No. I live in a small town and do a lot of shopping on the Net for things that aren't available in my area. The Internet also helps me do my job a lot faster. And finally, there's an interesting exchange of ideas on the Net. Being on the Net in a constructive manner can be balanced with having a real-world life.

Yes! Some people use the net as a way to decrease loneliness & waste time on the net that would be better served meeting real people. We would also be better at face-to-face communication, rather than using the net as a way to say the hard things without having to face that person.

I have lived without the net and just now got the internet about a year ago. There really is no difference in my life with it than from when I didn't have it. You make your life what you want it to be. Technology can neither help you nor harm you unless you allow it to.

No. It would be much worse. I couldn't do my online banking, I couldn't check the movie times without going out to buy a newspaper or call the theatre, I would have to pay for paper maps when I need to find someplace, I couldn't communicate instantly with people from around the globe. Maybe you envy the Amish, but I'm quite happy with the Net.

Mine would not be better without the net. I do most of my research for work online, conduct interviews via email quite frequently and touch bases with my "boss" through instant messaging or email.

I also do most of my shopping online. There are things I can't get in my area that I either need or want so badly it feels like a need.

No. Thats a ridiculous suggestion.
We are interlinked as we never could have been otherwise... able to exercise our wills with far less restraint, express ourselves... crush weak views... play out natural selection again in an unnatural environment.

But then "better" is subjective. I wouldn't want to live in a world without the Internet, but then what I consider essential to life other people might consider superfluous or even negative.

Now one thing the world WOULD be a better place without... is religion.

Yes and no. Personally I am happy to get the chance to "meet" so many interesting and different people. Without the "net" I would not have that chance.

no i dont think so. i dont know what i would do without the internet even though i dont chat to people. i have many friends who are lonely and would benefit from the internet greatly although on the other hand if you have a partner who is constantly in chat rooms or porn sites etc then its not so good. i suppose it depends on the persons use for the internet as some people only use it to meet other people either as friends or further. how would u feel without it?

The net is a double edged sword. The positive side is that it spreads knowledge and understanding between different countries, religions etc. The negative aspects are that it has increased gambling, pornography, fraud. I would say the bad outweighs the good.

I could argue either way. But I think we'd all be better without the "net". There would be more interpersonal communication, and our personal info wouldn't be as exposed.
