what possible disease could this be?
the cat shakes her head to one side, then she loses her balance..and falls.
it almost seems like the sense of direction is lost, when she tries to move.
there is no visible wound....but the ear seems to be the problem.
also..the eyes and the smell might be comprimised.
basicly...when the cat moves, falls over to one side.....loses her direction.
i'm talking about a stray cat, that i'm used to feed every day...

ok everyone, thank you very much for your help.
yes,it's really a stray...but i have a thought that the cat might have been indoors.
anyway...i went to the vet,....got cleaned the ear...it was full of blood ,as it turned out..this came cuz of a blow to the head.
with some antibiotics,he will be fine....i'll go everyday for that.
i also hope, that my lovely nextdoor neighbour...who now took the cat in the house...will actually keep him, even after the treatment.
so hoping for the best...thank you all!!!!

We had a cat several years ago that had the same problem. We took her to the vet and she had inner ear problems. They gave her some medicine and she was fine after that. It is similar to the inner problems that humans get. Could be she needs just to have her ears cleaned, just like people do. Take her to the vet and he will take care of her.

It could be an inner ear infection but sounds more like ear mites. See if you can check the cats ears. If the cats ears look really dirty (meaning it looks like black clumps of dirt) then the cat has ear mites. In severe infestations you will need to have a vet examine the cat to make sure that the cats inner ear is not infected. You can treat at home by getting ear mite medicine at any store and use according to directions. It usually says one or two drops per ear. Tilt the cats head to once side and put the drops in and then rub just behind the ear to help the medicine go all the way in. Should clear up in a day or two. If still uncertain you can calla vet or even a vet school and ask them. Good Luck and I hope this info helps.

Lots of good answers here. What leaps to mind is an inner ear infection - this causes loss of balance. But a head injury or epilepsy could cause loss of balance too.
The ear mites are annoying, and could cause visible damage to the ear, but shouldn't cause loss of balance unless she's falling over while scratching.
The only way to diagnose this, unfortunately, is to take her to a vet.
Is she *really* a stray, or just a neglected cat? If you can find her owner, I'd suggest they take her to the vet. Poor thing!

It can be a bad case of mites or an ear infection, or something called Vestibular Disease. It effects the inner ear and causes vertigo and a head tilt.
Vet would need to make the diagnosis.

I would bet, being a stray, this is neurological. Very well could be Feline distemper, poisoning, toxoplasmosis, FIV, FeLV, or FIP. The best thing for this cat is to end its suffering and have it humanely euthanized.

you might want to catch him and take him to vet. It might just be a simple ear infection then again something more serious going on.

Sounds like it could be ear infection - if you talk to a vet you may be able to get antibiotics to add to food. Good luck. ~Nise~
