Don't think this is really the place for finding a soulmate or even just a friend.
My friend belongs to a really good singles club where people do all sorts of activities - its called Spice, see below.
40 is not too old to find a soulmate though. I got married this year to my soulmate and i'm quite a few years older than you.

I would, but i am married, but i have been a single parent in the past, and my social life sucked!! I just did not have one, so i know how you feel. Hang in there, you will meet that someone special, you are still young at 40, and there will be someone, somewhere, who will come in to your life, and make it whole again, trust me! Good luck, you sound like a really nice guy!
