Yesterday, I just downloaded Windows Vista Pack 5.5 and when and I installed it to an older computer that supported windows xp. It still let me install it but when I was installing it, it said that it is not recommended to install this program because it had to write over certain files and the system would become unstable. It installed fine on that old computer, but I was just wandering if it would be ok to install it to my new good-working computer. If I did install it on my good computer with Wxp by the way, and something happened, would I be able to undo it by doing a system restore. Would it undo all the modifications that that program has made to my computer? All the program is, is a program that modifies files and settings to make computer look and feel like Windows Vista.

well windows vista is still under the beta stage, so probably you would like to wait for a while more until next year before it goes into the market before installing it on your new com?

The message that you are receiving simply means that the program has not been officially tested on Windows XP. It may work or it may crash your system. The fact that it is already working on the older system means that it will also work on the newer system. DO NOT confuse this to mean that your system can't crash at a later time because of this new software- it can.

The restorte will make everything good again if it formats the disk before restoring the old files. If it simply writes over the the current software, you may still have the same problems. If you have the software for windows XP, you don't have to worry about it. Simply format the disk when the option comes up at the styart of the installation process. Keep in mind that EVERYTHING on the computer will be erased when you format the disk. Esentially, your PC will be as it was when you first purchased it.

Is it that important to have Vista on your computer and take the risk of losing important documents?

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Please don't take the risk just because Vista is a new OS, you should be happy that you've got a good working computer.
