Organization is the key to cleanliness. Start by sorting everything by where it should go (ie.. bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, closet, drawers, etc,) as you are doing this things that you dont need throw them away. Use those stackable drawers or a cart they have at walmart (really cheap) then if you are like me i decorate everything with stincles and paint or stickers. (fabric ones work best) If you have a hard time keeping things organized label the containers they go it. Just pick up after yourself and make the best use of your closets.

Realtor taught me this: less is more.
Go for a few larger pieces of furniture rather than lots of small pieces. Don't block the flow of traffic - keep entrances to the room as clear as possible. Remove heavy drapes and either expose the windows or put very light sheers up. (light light light!) Avoid knick-knacks and keep surfaces clear of clutter.
Rules for furniture apply to walls too. Don't put up 100 pictures, but a group of 3 large, matted pictures. (Mattes are important) Don't cover more than 25% of visible wallspace with artwork.
Paint with light colors to make the room feel larger, and use nice lamps for decoration. Lighting is everything.
Then there are the maintenance issues. Steam clean the carpet. Get the trim paint out and touch up the baseboards and windowsills. Clean the windows and touch up the walls.
It worked! We made the changes she recommended and in 24 hours buyers stopped saying how "cute" the house was and said "wow - this is bigger than I expected."

It's best to go through everything and get rid of stuff you don't need first. That way there isn't as much stuff to keep up with. After that, designate a space for everything and always put it back in that space. Once you're room is totally clean, it shouldn't be too hard to keep clean.

The less stuff in your room, the cleaner it looks. Besides the obvious things like picking up your clothes and making your bed, keep the furniture to a minimum. Your bed, a dresser, and maybe a desk or nightstand should be all you need.

Straighten up everything, store what you can away in bins or in extra storage areas. Get rid of things you no longer use or wear, and if you can maybe a nice new paint job something clean and crisp and maybe some accent pillows and drapes.

Organize! Sort stuff by what you want to keep or throw away. You can get colorful bins to store or stack. You can buy an
inexpensive (or even make) a screen, if you have to hide some items that may look unsightly. You could put up shelves too.

Well of course you gotta put some elbow grease in it! But you gotta get organized as well. Sort and classify your clothes you are using, arent using, and put your seasonal clothes up in a storage tub for when the time comes to pull them out. Using baskets can be functional and fun to have as far as decorating.
