a childs 2 year assessment..?

My daughter will be due her 2 year assessment a couple of months after xmas.

Does anyone know the sort of things they test?

Shes quite a little brain box anyway, so im not worried about her development, just curious.

She gets little test to see how she is delevloping.

I think it MIGHT involve colours and maybe copying (roleplay)

I knew what assessment you were talking about! My daughter had hers a couple of months ago. They check her speech development. She was shown a picture and was asked to name the things on it. Like birds and trees and things inside the house. She was given blocks to make a tower. Also match sticks which I cant remember what they were for. Her weight was checked. My little one is quite the brain box too and got on great. She is almost 27 months now and potty trained during the day. Still wears her nappy for bed. She can count to 10! Every achievment feels like a huge step! The assessment is more fun than anything else. Good luck

My son had his three-and-a-half one yesterday. They don't do much - just check on the child's development, to see if they are growing properly, and take their height and weight measurements. They also ask you questions about whether they're eating well, sleeping well, etc. It's also an opportunity to raise any concerns you have. She may be asked to do manipulative tests (putting blocks on top of one another, 'posting' things through slots, recognising colours, shapes etc). Don't worry - it's not a test she can pass or fail! They just check to see if hearing and sight are ok. They ask them to build a tower out of some small blocks and fit some simple shapes into their correct hole. They also ask about speech is she saying between 5-20 words and ask her to pick up some small objects normally beads to check fine motor skills. They will also ask if you have any concerns. I'm not sure what type of assessment you mean.

For my son's well child they looked him over, asked how many words he said, how many words he knew (like some kids will point to nose if you say it so they know it, but they don't say it), sleeping and potty training questions...health things.

We've never had any other assessment.

My daughter is 14 now so hers was a good while ago but don't think they have changed too much. You won't have anything to worry about.
