If you liked umbuntu, you should stay with it.

The only reason to switch would be if it didn't support something
that you had to have. And, in any case, you can usually download that package and install in into your distro anyway..

You can install them (Suse and Ubuntu) both if you have enough disk space and use lilo or whatever that other boot manager's called to switch between them.

Vista's going to be a lot buggier than either of those.

If you keep switching, you're not going to be comfortable with any of them!

Keep unbuntu. If you want to play with other distros, download them and install them so that the co-exist with ubuntu, but set the default to boot to ubuntu.

You can usually share the swap space, as it gets overwritten whenever you boot anyway.

If you want to learn a lot about this, I'd recommend picking up a used system to play on. Linux usually can get by with less resources than Windows (and a LOT less than Vista).

Keep your main system on something you are used to until you've moved everything and are sure you want to switch - and know why you want to switch...

The leading edge is better known as the "bleeding edge" in the trade. And, you can always tell the pioneers - they're the ones with the arrows in their backs.

P.S. Redhat's latest beta 5 was so buggy that InfoWorld (or Computer World) couldn't load it to test it...

Windows Vista is still in beta stage so if you really want to get into trouble you can try it. Vista will hopefully be released in january.
Ubuntu edgy is a week away from the official release, but you can install it now by upgrading from drapper-drake. It's highly recommended to do it this way because many changes have been applied to edgy which weren't placed in the iso file!
Not only Ubuntu is preparing to launch its new distribution! Red HAT wil laucnh next month Fedora Core 6, Novell will laucnh Suse 10.1 and many others.
