Buy multivitamins only from a reputable seller. Ask your pharmacist. Multivitamins are perhaps not needed if you have a well-balanced diet. They are like an insurance policy in case you don't. The body manufactures many vitamins but not the "essential" vitamins that must be obtained from food or vitamin pills. Now you can get multivitamins that are designed for you sex or age. Scientists have long established that vitamins can prevent certain diseases like pellagra or scurvy or boost the immune system. Avoid non-standard supplements without consulting your doctor especially if you are on medications that may be amplified or negated.

If you have a varied diet you really do not need a multivitamin. If your have a poor diet, it helps be sure. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat soluble and you can overdose. the other vitamins are water soluble and your body will only absorb what it needs and you pee out the rest. If you take it it will work but do not take more than one a day. I did my research on vitamin C and I do reccommend it for colds.

It is important to stay within the recommended daily allowance of vitamins. Toxicity is very rare. Water soluble vitamins are usually just flushed out with water. However, if you do take pills, just be aware of the fat-soluble vitamins: A,D,E, and K. They are not that easy to get rid of from the system. Also vitamins are not such a huge problem in the US. Vitamin C is added to virtually everything and A and D to milk. A supplement is good, but just make sure with your doctor to see if you really need it. Athletes may since they drink a lot of fluids and get rid of it quickly too.

you have to take careful notice and notes of reactions over time. it is difficult. best to test out each vitamin separately and not take multi during tests.
