A trusted tattoo artist's opinion is your best bet, a second and third opinion is even better for something like UV-reactive tattoos that are still new enough to be considered somewhat risky. In my own opinion, all the UV-tattoos that weren't done over a regular ink tattoo looked jail house ugly. Even the white can turn brown (some brands), or leave a scar from the tattoo processs (it's an abrasion), not to mention the itching many people complain about, or the dermetitis that a few experience. I'm content to get tattoos is concealable places. UV reactive tattoos may be perfectly safe. But the FDA has a far from perfect track record

Well...... The UV tattoo ink is pretty cool, it lights up under a black light. The only color that is almost invisible in the regular light is the white and you can still see it just not very much. The other colors are just normal colors until they hit that black light and then they POP. I have seen people get the Red in the eyes of something in the UV ink and that looks good also.

They have changed this ink over the years and it is no longer harmful to you. I would suggest that you contact Tattoo studios in your area to see if they do this type of work and make sure that when you are getting it done they are working under a black light, that is the only way that they can assure good coverage of your tattoo.

Good luck and enjoy that black light tattoo......

I would search www.bmezine.com for information about this.

I got a UV ink tattoo and it was nearly invisible after it healed. During healing it was a bit red and scabby, but that's to be expected. It looked rather okay under light, a lightish blue color, but I wish it would have been darker/more bold

The ink has been made more safely, so there is a good chance you won't run into issues with it. I would call places near you and ask if they have this ink or are willing to do this type of tattoo. I know places near me refuse to do it just because of the bad rep. this tattoo has.

I don't know about studios near you, you would have to call or walk in and talk with the tattoo artists.

What is a UV tattoo?

UV tattoos are still bad for you. You are introducing a phosphorescent chemical into your body and can be potentially toxic. Go to http://www.medicalbodyart.org there is a big article on it.

This was in my local paper just today and it said they still don't know if they are safe or not. They aren't old enoughg to know if there will be any long term effects or not. Otherwise I don't know anything else about them.
