Get to the hospital asap...these people are giving you a run around..or find an advocate on line where you live to help you out..What really irratates me,..is that a friend of mine going through the same thing was rushed into treatment over just the same things you are worrying about and experiencing...But he has insurance...and you should have some rights ...Please look up some advocates to get you into get some help immediately...this is not fair you have to suffer like this...in the meantime...you might try this new type of meeting place...where people like yourself,..can meet and have others enduring the same things they are...... http://nolongerlonely.com/index.php.......Good luck...it is a chat room to meet people...

YOU ARE ENTITLED TO A SECOND OPINION know matter what someone tells you. Whether or not you have insurance is not a factor here. It is your right as a person.
Keep an open mind and don't walk into the doctors appointment biased.
You don't say what it is that you are seeing a psychiatrist for and that's okay. No matter what it is, look it up on the internet or go to the library and check out some books on 'self help'. If you think you need help and you are willing to help yourself then you will find a way to do it. Psychiatrists cannot FIX us, they only are able to point us in a direction then it's up to us to do the rest.
Hope you feel better.

You do sound very depressed. When you say you don't think the psychiatrist appointment is going to go your way....what do you mean? What way would you like it to go?

Try not to EXPECT things to go against you. I know this is hard, because depression makes us think badly.

Write down the things you want the psychiatrist to know about how you are feeling. Take it with you and give it to him or her.

This way you won't forget anything or get stuck for words.

Also tell 'him' what you think might help you.

It often helps if you can take someone along with you who you trust. You DO have a right to do this. If you have no one then you are allowed to ask for the advocate to come in with you who will support you and help you put your views across.

Ring the place where your psychiatrist is and ask about seeing the advocate, they will normally meet with you before your appointment so they know what you want to say.

The world will not always be on your shoulders, although it may feel that way.

Be open to suggestions from the psychiatrist.

Good luck and take care.

I do not know the laws of England. I do feel for you though. If it is like American psychiatrist have way to much power. What they say goes. They are sometimes the biggest quack that has ever walk into their office. In American the APA is such a powerful force that you are basically doomed because one psychiatrist will never go against the other. I wish I had the money to get you out of there.

Your fright says it all. YOU NEED to go to see this doc, sooner than you think. Phobias are the worst to deal with, but calm down he/she will help you, that is why they are paid. It sounds like your gunna need some medications which the psych can give you to calm down, and see life differently. Please don't be frightened, they are not there to judge you at all, only help you, or you could sue them, and they know it.
Good luck
