If you are from Singapore, my advice is that you first take your visitor visa and visit China. You may soon find that it is not where you would like to be. However, if you truly wish to stay in China, going to college is one way to have an extended Visa. If you are somewhere like Shenzhen then you can simply renew your visa every so often in Hong Kong and come back in. And of course, once you are in China, bring some money with you and anything you want can be arranged if you know the right people. Even overstaying your visa can be resolved with a fine, and with the right amount of money in your passport when you leave the right person will overlook this small problem.
