Please tell me why someone would want to wear a veil while teaching children.
I ask this with the greatest of respect and because I really want to know.

My apologies if anyone felt I was making a sweeping generalisation. Of course not all Muslim women choose to wear the veil or the hijab. My only reason for asking is to try to understand those that do.

This is yet another way to challenge our legal system and to use our legal aid to make the system squirm.
We have given enough to this PC system,.
It is time to stop the Anti-British behaviour in Britain and make our immigration work.
A man on the politics show this morning Sunday 23 Oct, ranted about bringing eastern block workers in to build new homes, because they will work for a pittance, but what happens to our builders?, he also didn't suggest that he should be taken from his big fat salary for people to do his job for buttons. Bring back the ski mask and the hoodies, all is forgiven and get these fools of our televisions.

lee.... your answer makes me sick maybe lee should wear a veil over his mouth. wearing a veil is all part and package of there religion and i wouldnt dream of telling a cristian to stop wearing a cross or a a nun to take off her robe. i totally understand your reasons for asking this question

With humble and respect Im answering you to your question! Whats wrong in wearing Veil? Thats I beleive cool! Muslims...are really like urdu and the rules and regulations they follow are really marvellous! I think they wear Veil while teaching Childrens so that they can see you like a mother.....or like a respected women!? Im Hindu lad but what I beleive that Muslims and the peoples are really rocking! There language, the peoples and there dress sence is so nice that no man will ever try to see them in bad way....he'll feel shy of himself...beleive me whatever prophet has wrote in Quran, u guys are following that...becoz prophet is god and he knows how to judge the world..so to protect a girl...from eye cathers...he said "veil is must" hah...its my wordings...but its true muslims are rocking!

coz they make to make a point, and thats the truth. if u look at the difference between hijab and niqab. The hijab just covers the hair. the niqab not just covers the hair, but also the mouth and nose. i mean why would someone want to cover their mouth and nose. i mean wome cover their breasts to show modesty. is the mouth and nose so sexually attractive.
ppl that rob a bank wear a mask, ppl that try to cover their face look scary,just like on halloween , when ppl wear those masks. there is no good explanation in this universe to why a women should cover herself to. in my opinion they are just trying to create a barrier and make a point and show of that pathetic religion of islam

i would like to answer u friendly but frankly i hope u get ur answer coz i am a muslim and i had many questions about christianity in my mind and with the help of christain friends i managed to answer them. dear we dont have to wear a veil or scarf in front of children its not in our religion if a woman does it she wants to do it and its personal but we dont have to!! like u i disagree with this action when god let us do somthing why we should deprive ourself from it? there are many people who want to be more catholic than the Pope!!!

I'm a Muslim and Muslim women should not wear a hijab or a veil and attribute it to God anyway....God does NOT tell women to wear a hijab or veil in the Qur'an but cover their chest and to us the Qur'an is whole and complete, God does not run out of words, make mistakes, wait for scholars to fill in things. When God includes something it is delberate, when he excludes thing it is deliberate.......anyway you do not need to cover up in front of children in the Qur'an anyway........

Because if you are teaching and there is a strange man coming into the classroom AKA the principal or another teacher.... Would you run underneath your desk? I do not think so!

not all of us do ... so stop generalizing
usually the ones who do are being repressed by the society they live in or their mean husbands
however many of us Muslim women are challenging the old ways and standing up for what i sright
i wear some of the traditional costumes that are bright and colourfrul on special occassions but no veil
and usually prefer jeans

i agree with sis muslimah.
veil doesnot harm children.veil is our honour,our dignity,why should we leave it for any reason,when even it's not causing troubles for others...i think it allows children to have greater respect for their teachers :)
for sis raliah: how can u say,covering head is not in islam,come on whole world,even non-muslims know that.
