It appears that state sponsored terrorism is the same as the local variety, only larger (ie. more people die and suffer when governments or large religious groups get involved). Whether it's individuals, groups or states, you need to fully understand the motivation behind their actions. Then you may be able to counteract that terrible force of violence and maybe neutralize it over time. The moral high ground, based on respect for human life is good place to act from.

AS a desert storm vet.. i know what you are saying... Well as the world gets smaller,, the ones in power are demanding isolated nations to be part of the big global marked... Noticed i said demanding... it is my way or the highway... Actually redefining the above phrase is inconsequential. better term is survival. Holding on to ones old ways is on the way out according to nations that have more mussel.
Of course i put in my religious opinion...which is.... The hole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.... No matter what we do (Christians) know that Satan is the god of this world but only for a short time more..

"TERRORISM is one or more violent acts, or the threat of such acts, against a civilian population by politically motivated groups or individuals with the intention of inducing political or military advantage through fear."
Terrorism is a tactic, nothing more. It differs from "mainstream" war tactics in that it targets civilians who had little if anything to do with anything. For that reason primarily, it is viewed as inappropriate--criminal, in fact. If your brother stole my goat, should I punish him by killing your sister? How many goats is your sister worth? How much gold and oil? If you stole everything that I own, is it okay for me to kill your sister? Your mother? If your brother raped me, can I kill your mother then? What does your brother have to do in order for you to feel that it is appropriate for me to kill your mother in retaliation?
In short, if anyone comes into your house with the intention of doing you harm, defend yourself. If you fail to defend yourself, due to lack of arms or expertise, that is unfortunate, to say the least. You have my deepest sympathy, and the sympathy of many millions more. But no matter who they killed, who they raped, who they abused, whose beliefs they insulted, I for one will never approve of Terrorism.

Hey give a damm what people. People are just ignorant. Why care if you know wat you are doing is correct. If your land is under attack then protect it its your duty. No questions asked about it.
Terrorism is when you harm innocent lives for a useless cause and give the act of killing a name of honour.
