What if the shoe were on the other foot and an invader was committing crimes and rapes in your town? Don't you think that we are doing enough already to other Americans...like 11,000 murders a years and in Tampa, a car is stolen every 8 minutes. When people begin to disregard the mores of society, it means the end of civilization. The Military is very lax on punitive measures, but rape carries a death sentence.

Crime is crime whether you're a civilian or military and whether you're overseas or at home. If civilian prisons were half as nasty as military ones there would be less people wanting to go back to them once released. No one deserves to be wronged - as they say, two wrongs don't make a right!

First of all let me say its basically just he said she said when it comes to these kinds of things. What you don't hear about is how these women are basically standing on the end of the docks or airports when the military men show up tring to get their attention and get their claws into americans because they think its a better life if they get married. And if the military men don't marry them or give them money, they claim rape. Yeah the miltary men are stupid by giving in to these man eaters but also at the same time you never hear about the outcome of the trials if there is one because if you look most of them are dropped or not taken to court. I blame that on the press because they only want to report the alligations on things but never the outcome unless someone is going to jail. As a military wife, my husband tells me about all the hookers at the piers and how these young girls are put there by their fathers thinking they are going to get all that money and if she gets pregnant, he'd have to marry her and take her away and get all his money and she could send the money back to her father. But she doesn't get to go or doesn't get married and they father cryes rape to try to get the military member to marry their daughter. Besides were breeding a new kind of criminals here in our high schools. Why don't we worry about making things safe at home instead of what you think may or may not have happened over seas.

No, of course it's not OK. And I am sure you know that. A crime is a crime, and rape and violence at the personal level are not authorized by military action. That's Attila the Hun level! We are supposedly a little more civilized than that.
We do have military courts, and the perpetrators should clearly be court-marshaled.

You really have to re-evaluate your morals! Military or no military no one has the freedom to commit rape!
I know being in the American military is no great thing! Anyone can get in, as long as they can run on two legs and hold a gun and fire it, but for Indians (I am an Indian) being in the military is a matter of great pride and respect and if an army person commits such an exact, it is shameful and unforgivable!

It is never okay to commit a crime, especially rape. How the hell do you think that fourteen year old that was raped and her body burned deserved that? It doesnt matter what race or country your from. If the girl had a bomb strapped around her waist and was about to blow them all up, that is one thing.
Hitler thought all Jews deserved to die. Did they?

Soldiers deployed overseas must respect the women because they could be tried for crimes they committed thereat because local Criminal Laws are applicable to them.

It's not justified for anyone to do that. That's why we have the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) and punish those who violate: *the UCMJ
*the Geneva Convention
*US laws
*the laws of the foreign country that the Soldier/Sailor is in
*the Soldier's/Sailor's branch's (Army, Navy, Marine) regulations
*Unit policy letters
*orders
We have a lot of laws, rules, and regulations to follow, don't we? ...and I agree with being held to that standard-it's the right thing to do.

Right is right, and wrong is wrong. It doesn't matter who is commiting these crimes, they should be punished. The vast majority of our soldiers are good and decent men and women who fight for our freedom and security. These bad examples of American soldiers are not the norm. They should adhere to a strict code of conduct, if they commit crimes, they can and should get nailed for it.
