In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

I don't believe god is an object. He may be a Spirit. He definitely represents all good, seen and unseen by man. Satan is an evil spirit and represents all negative forces of life, all evil in the world. Not only acts, but thoughts.

Satan is good and evil, he can be an angel of light and reveal to us things that are true, knowing that we will not understand. Just like he did with Eve in the garden. He also causes sickness, confusion, and seperation from God, and death. God is of a different nature, not good or evil, but loving.

I believe you answer your own question in that you refer both to god and Satan as representative objects. That is exactly what they are and no more. Both where invented by Christians and neither exist! Each individual can pick their own representation of good and evil, bearing in mind that what you may consider to be wrong may only be wrong to you and your belief. Live and let live

God is not an object, He is the living God, the one who transforms lives. Yes, He is good, He is goodness Himself. God cannot sin.
Satan is evil, he tempts us, and is an enemy of those who love God. Satan does not represent evil - he is evil.

Good is a very subjective term. Read one of the collection of books said to be his word - the old testament, and the creature who emerges is petty, stupid, vindictive, capricious, violent, inconsistent and vicious. (And the new Testament God is no better, really) I would say it is more true that he represents a big, powerful invisible bully in the sky, who, providing you suck up enough to him, may be persuaded to spare you and kick the crap out of the people next door.
Man created god in his image, and the image is not a very nice one.
Makes satan sound quite interesting!

god is the reason behind mans concience and satan represents mans struggles with impulse and morals. one begets the other and both are not needed by everyone. thats awesome that you labeled god as an object, i feel thats what he's become. an object fueled by money and greed. satan must be just smiling ear to ear.

Sure if you think killing is good, if the bible is correct whos commanded the most acts of violence and killed the most? God, infact the bible makes little reference to anyone killed by satan.
