Indica is the best, and 1.5 lacs is enough for second hand car ( 2 or 3 yrs. old one)and it gives the better average.it is best for a common man to buy a second hand car because if we buy the brand new car the value of it decreased at very rate, it will be totally ghate ka sauda.

I would say the indica makes the most sense if space is your prime concern. Do remember that a Diesel indica at that price will be about 5+ years old. Maintenance costs of diesels are very high as they get older, and the older Indicas have their quality issues.
Both the Santro (ZipDrive or later) and Zen (post 2000 with MPFI engine) are good vehicles with excellent service back up and make practical sense if your travel distances are less than 40km per day.
have you considered getting a Fiat Palio. There is service back up now via Tata's, and they are going cheap because of market perception.
Refer to www.carwale.com for tips on buying used vehicles.
