I've been on a diet and reached a satisfactory weight. The problem is I'd like to return to a normal eating diet and at the same time keep the weight that I've got now. How much am I supposed to eat in order not to put on kilos again, but still not to have a restrictive and abnormal diet? Mind you, my loss in weight was dramatic and to my mind it brinked on anorexia. I suppose it was unhealty and I think it's best to give it up. Still, I like the way I look now. How do I eat relatively normally and not get fat? I've heard many people say once you stop your restrictive diet you're most likely to put on weight again. So, anybody out there care to share their wisdom of life as far as such matters are concerned???

Eat several (5-6) small meals a day...your body will burn calories faster and build your metabolism in a short period of time.
(eat about every 2 hours)
The first 8-10 pounds you shed is water.
Meal suggestions:
piece of fruit
string cheese, summer sausage, cottage cheese/yogurt
tuna/turkey/ham sandwich (lettuce, tomatoe optional)
soup
raw veggies
boiled eggs
popcorn
Always eat a good dinner...meat, potatoes/pasta/rice, veggie...your body needs carbs, protein and vitamins to stay healthy
Low calorie sweets...ginger snaps, fig bars, 100% juice popsicles
Drink plenty of water
Drink milk or juice/water with every meal (no soda pop)
Stay away from munchies, fried & fatty foods.
Cardio exercise is great, but most people don't continue for an extended period, do "daily" simple exercise like walking/hiking, biking and swimming are low impact, play games like basketball, baseball, or volleyball will help to lose weight, tone your body, make new friends and you'll have fun doing it.

Don't give up on the diet, as long as its a basically healthy diet all you need to do is increase portion sizes to maintain weight. You can of course indulge in those treats which a diet excludes. But be careful, make small increases otherwise you could find yourself gaining again. Make a change and see what effect it has over a couple of weeks...no gain, you've cracked it. Good luck

I have been off of my diet for a long time now and have started eating normally again, but I still try to include lots of protein in my daily meals and have been able to keep the weight off.

Everything in moderation.

Avoid high calorie foods. If you have a hi cal desert one day, cut back the next. Enjoy the weekends but be aware of what you eat all week.

Eat slowly and quit eating when you are full.

Eat what you want but watch the portions.

Stay active

Don't eat out of boredom, depression or frustration.

Good luck

Yes, you will gain weight if you starve yourself them eat normally. When you starve, your body switches to starvation mode, which means it will keep everything from whatever you eat. Because you starved your self for so long, your body is trying to make up for it now, in case it has to be prepared for starvation again.
