If the answer is "Yes", then there's no reason to suppose that an intelligent designer was necessary for us to exist. If the answer is "No" then a god certainly cannot exist. Either way it doesn't look good for the god theory.

Well, being that the human body consist of atoms that exist in the entire universe and nothing more, intelligence is as natural as anything else in this universe. Our thoughts are just as physical as our bodies, therefore subject to change and controlled by the same laws of physics and matter as any other thing. So intelligence exist naturally without design. Our complex system of brain processes is just as amazing as the beautiful composition of nebula's or other physical phenomenon, well, maybe not as breathtaking but there is clear evidence of the evolution of our intelligence from our ancestors down along the evolutionary tree of life.

"Can intelligence exist without being intelligently designed?"
this could also support the existence of an intelligent designer.

If Intelligence can exist without being designed, then an Intelligent God could exist.

If Humans exist then 'intelligence' exist, with or without a God. I dont think answering this question will yield any proof

There is intelligence in the universe anyway. After all, anything a human can know must have been true before hand. Wisdom is best based on the knowledge derived from reality. Everything we think is intelligence within us, is actually just a reflection of the wisdom gained from observing the 'knowledge' already contained within the universe we were born into. Anything else is just fantasy.

Interesting question. But still not good for the anti-god theory. For one could argue like this and that would end in checkmate.

Yes, it can and that is why its ok for God to exist without being created. This would also seem to be imply that:

God = Intelligence &
Man = fundamentally stupid (with implanted yet limited intelligence).

"Artificial Intelligence" movies dont seem to help as well. There is usually a robot in there that negates the existence of man.

Also, it appears that God was intelligent enough to create man stupid with limitted fractional intelligence to address the man becomes superior than god issue. Funny eh?

C'mon buddy. Lets face it. You can count intelligent beings on this planet. So lets not feign artificial intelligence ;-)

Only if the designer and the designed are the same. Applies to creation too buddy..... God created man (in his Image)... remember?

Example: You have a lamp with a lil flame going on. you create another flame from the original. The second one is just as equally bright and having been created from teh first, the first has not lost any of its lustre as well.

There are only a few things in life that share this phenomenon: Love, Light and Knowledge (Wisdom). The giver does not lose anything by the act of giving or sharing. :-)

Btw - the answer to the final question is not Yes or No. the answer is 'IS'. Good Luck and dont be a victim of the duality trap.

Intelligence can easily be explained with a simple process of evolution and natural selection (the latter being an integral part of the former)

In natural selection, random mutations that cause a creature to be more successful than the others lead to its improved chances of survival. If it is more likely to survive, it is more likely to reproduce and pass on this genetic improvement. This 'improved' second generation will continue competing against those without the improvement, surviving beyond them and reproducing even more. Soon enough (evolutionarily speaking), most of the creatures in that species will have the improved genetic structure.

While this may appear to apply only to physical features, such as the ability to run faster from prey, intelligence also acts as an improvement. If one being develops the extra brain capacity or discovers a particularly successful method for hunting (for example), they will survive longer and pass on this to their children.

What we define as 'intelligence' can quite easily have developed over a series of gradual improvements in this way. What started off as a better way to defend against mountain lions led to the use of tools, which could then be used to shape the environment and make use of mountain lion fur for clothing, which would then allow us to live in colder climates and gradually adapt more physical mechanisms for dealing with the new situations presented there.

Once intelligence reached the critical point where we started to become more social and form language, our intelligence begun to increase exponentially as the capacity for new knowledge to be shared developed.

God is intelligent. No one designed God. Yes.

There is no reason to think otherwise. We know that amino acids will form out of energy and a collection of elements in just a few weeks (famous experiment in the 1950s). So, why not intelligence in a few BILLION YEARS?

Inteligence already does exist without a designer.

Then who designed the designer of intelligence?
