but have a small air cleaning machine. think I will eventually kill my little birds.with the smoke they breath in.?

I rent a room in a home it is all the place I have for my birds to live.

You can smoke in another room where noone is around. Then you do not have to feel guilty of commiting a crime and get away with it.

You should put them in a cage in an open environment, e.g. backyard, garden, etc. Safer and more convenient for the both of you. They can mate and breed freely in a cage exposed to fresh air and sunshine than in an enclosed smoking room. And you can smoke all you want without harming them.

Even if you kept them somewhere else in the house, the toxins that stick to your clothes, more specifically the Carbon Monoxide, on top of other chemicals can kill them eventually, but I wouldn't recommend even keeping birds if you smoke, rehome them for their sake.
