He has had alot of pain since the filling, and we took him back to the dentist, they said it was from the bite area, they drilled it some more & said he should be fine. It has been 4 days and he wont shut up about it, what should I do?

Sounds like he has an abscess. Look on the gum next to the tooth and see if it looks puffy. It's kind of early to actually se one, but they pop up pretty quick in kids sometimes. In any event, even if you don't see any swelling, it is clearly not just a high filling and it's time to get back to the dentist.

Depending on your child's age, they may talk about taking out the tooth or taking out the nerve to save the tooth. Yeah, it's a baby tooth, but we like to keep them in place to hold the space for the permanent tooth so you don't end up paying for braces later on. §

That's very unusual. I've gone to dentists for decades and never had that problem.

Take him back to the dentist. They're the professionals. He shouldn't be in pain from a filling after a day. Any good dentist won't mind at all.

Perhaps there is some infection in the tooth, or they still haven't got the bite right.

here are some non-narcotic remedies for really bad tooth pains, the first one is caffeine- but since he is just a boy- you may not want to introduce him to that just yet, also you can make a poultice-- get 4 sturdy napkins and wrap a fistful of rye bread into it, then dip it in boiling water- wait until the heat isnt scalding, and hold to the afflicted area- it will draw out any infection that may lie there while also improving the local blood flow to ease the pain-- another timeless remedy is as simple as a very hot bath, have him get the water as hot as he can stand it to be w/o making him too uncomfortable-this will also rise his blood pressure throughout his entire body, and the pain should stay alieviated for about an hour afterwards-- also, always trust your kids just to be on the safe side-if they say theyre in pain-get them help-so even if the doctor is sure of his own abilities- seek out some anti-biotics for him- he may very well have an infection- it is the easiest place on our bodys to get one, and rarely will any doctor of any kind tell someone if they should treat what they were supposed to have helped--my cousin needed a tooth pulled when he was 7, and because of the lack of a follow- up check for infection-he lost two more that year, and was always in pain....good luck-and truest sympathys to the little one, ive had an absces before and if its anything like that, god help him, that hurt.

I don't think you should consult all these people who are not dental-trained at all. You should really take your son back to see the dentist in charge, or if not, go to seek treatment at your local dental hospital.

Basically, there are many things that could trigger the pain, and it could be due to any number of factors.
Possibilities include the depth of his decay (it's proximity to the nerve/pulp), type of material used, etc. It is very hard to conclude anything from the vague description above. Take your son to see a professional as soon as possible.

DS

Get your son back to the dentist and if you arent happy with him go to the doc. I had extensive work done this year and they may not have cleaned all the infection out. Do it asap cause I experienced alot of pain for the very reason I just told you

Get a second opinion! This isn't right, sounds like either an infection or someone was a bit drill-happy. Don't leave it! If there is infection under the filling, he could end up losing teeth through spreading gum disease. And if he's in pain, you can't ignore it.

I would take him to another dentist because the first one obviously couldn't fix the problem. And no it is not normal, by 4 days your son should have no pain whatsoever. Good luck

Take him to another dentist. He shouldn't be feeling any pain if they filled the cavity properly.

Take him to a different dentist and get a second opinion about what is going on.

Shouldn't hurt. May be infected. Call the dentist first thing in the morning.
