You shouldn't worry about when he goes to school, well at least not any more than mixed-sex couples. Kids are cruel and they're sure to poke fun because he's got 'two mothers' but they'd also poke fun if he had a lisp, ginger hair or God knows what other minor things that kids latch on to.
At least you're preparing yourself and him for it so he's probably going to be able to cope better with playground taunts than most kids who weren't expecting it. It just depends on how he holds himself. If he's a strong kid and isn't too self-righteous about the whole thing, he'll be fine.
Make sure he's prepared for it but also make sure not to make too big a deal out of it. The last thing he needs is to draw attention to it but don't hide it either. If he tries to conceal it and the kids find out somehow, they'll have a field day. If he's straight-up and cool about it from the outset, the other kids will soon get bored of teasing him and move on to the poor redhead whose parents didn't prepare him for the law of the playground.

Well, he has 2 Mommies. Make sure to warn the school, and give out a few copies of the book about the little girl with 2 Mommies, and tell him a lot of people wont agree that having 2 Mommies is right or even normal, but just as long as he is loved and cared for no matter what, Your family is still a family, no matter what silly people think. Just tell him that every day and he should be fine. Also, both of you should always go to school with him, for parent teacher conferences, and parent's day that way the children around him realize that yes, he has two Mommies!

Check out to see if the school this person is going to attend has a GLSEN network. GLSEN stands for Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network. Their mission "Strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression."
Here is their website:
http://www.glsen.org/cgi-bin/iowa/all/about/index.html
My son volunteers going to schools teaching and offering strategies for preparing students, faculty, and staff to be effective allies to LGBT students. So check with your school and see if they are even aware of GLSEN's program.

Do what???? "he" ?
Oh, I see, well, this is where he has to learn to deal with the big ugly world. Tell him to hold his head high, but you need to be prepared when he lashes out at you for causing him to get undue stress from all the negative attention. He will be angry for a short time, but will grow up.

Tell him that people are mean when they don't understand as well as not to listen to what people have to say for you both love him very much and that's all that matters.

i hope you mean when she goes to school...otherwise it wouldn't be a lesbian relationship.
anywho...don't worry what other people think. if your families don't care..then it doesn't matter what people at school think.

Don't be worried. If she loves you and it's meant to be, then you will have nothing to worry about. Good Luck
