Oxycodone is a powerful medication used to treat moderate to severe pain. Oxycodone is the generic form of Oxycontin. It is a central nervous system depressant. Side effects include nausea, constipation, lightheadedness, rash or itchiness, dizziness, and emotional mood disorders. It can be addictive when used for longer periods than prescribed for. It is a narcotic medication.
Percocet contains oxycodone and acetaminophen (commonly known as Tylenol). It is also a powerful narcotic drug used for moderate to severe pain. Side effects may include constipation;
dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, or decreased appetite; dizziness, tiredness, or lightheadedness; muscle twitches; sweating;itching;
decreased urination; or decreased sex drive in some people.
Don't suddenly stop either of these medications if you have been on them for a long period of time (a few weeks) because addiction can occur and withdrawl may happen if you are unknowingly addicted.

They are all narcotic pain relievers, but 3 of the 4 are the same drug. Percocet is a brand name for Oxycodone mixed with acetaminophen (tylenol). Oxycontin is a controlled time release form of oxycodone. It is also marketed as Roxicodone. Vicodin is a brand name for hydrocodone mixed with acetaminophen. It is slightly weaker than oxycodone (milligram for milligram, it is about 90% as strong). It is also marketed by different companies as Lortab and Norco. They are all used for pain relief, in slightly different applications. Hydrocodone takes longer to provide relief than oxycodone, but the relief is somewhat longer lasting. Oxycontin is made to release the drug very slowly (over a period of 8-12 hours). Hydrocodone is usually the first choice for acute pain, while oxycodone is used for post-operative pain since it is quicker acting. Oxycontin is used for chronic pain. It is abused quite a bit by crushing the tablet to release the entire dose (equivalent to 4 to 80 times the strength of a standard 5 mg oxycodone tablet). The 80x potentcy is usually reserved for terminal cancer patients. Hydrocodone is a schedule 3 controlled substance in the US, oxycodone and oxycontin are schedule 2, meaning they have a higher potential for abuse.

Oxycodone is a central nervous system depressant
Percocet, a narcotic analgesic, is used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. It contains two drugs--acetaminophen and oxycodone. Acetaminophen is used to reduce both pain and fever. Oxycodone, a narcotic analgesic, is used for its calming effect and for pain.
