Hi

I have a Samsung TV and Sony Home Theatre.
I bought a DVD Component Cable (RGB) and connected the
TV to the DVD player.
I made sure the colors of the cables and the sockets are correct.
When I switched to DVD mode, the screen is not clearly visible
with all the colours mixed up and the left half of the screen is seen
on the right and vice versa.
What can be the problem ?

Is your TV a high definition TV? or a standard definition TV? If the later is the case I have another question: Is your DVD player a progressive scan DVD player? If it is and you don't have a high def TV the problem may be that your dvd player is setup to output progressive scan signal through the component outputs. Standard definition TVs cannot decode this type of signal so al you get is a fancy, crazy color show instead of the movie that you are trying to watch. If this is the case try hooking your dvd player up through a standard video RCA cable (you know, the yellow guy) After you have done this turn your tv on and get it to the input that the new cable is coming through. Then on your DVD player remote hit the setup or device menu button. In this menu there will be a section where you can tell the DVD player whether or not to send out progressive scan signal. Switch it so that it is not on progressive scan then try the component cables again. If this doesn't help you may have a bad set of cables. Try just using normal audio video cables (the red, white, and yellow guys) in place of your component cables just as a test. I know that the guys at monster cable might try to hunt me down and shoot me for telling you this, but those cables will accomplish the same task as the fancy expensive "component" cables that you can pick up at your local electronics retailer for way to much money. I hope these ideas help. They are the first thing that I would check if I was having the same problem. Good Luck!

Possibility you hooked the dvd component YPbPr output to the TV's YCbCr input, instead of the YPbPr input,,or vice-versa, they are the same color and will give you just the effect you described, on my tv the two sets of 5 jacks (3 sig and 2 audio) are right next to each other, and in parallel.

Phase problem, is one of that TV or Home Th bought in an NTSC region (Taiwan/Japan/US/Canada among few other places) while the other come from PAL (Europe) or SECAM (Latin America)?

If I was right and there wasn't a "Phase option" in either TV or HT you just bought a lemon. There is no phase adapter as far as I know, but then I don't frequent Radio Shack.
