Your question is bigger than an anonymous answers forum on Yahoo. I think you should ask your questions to a priest and protestant pastor near you. Ring their offices and ask for an appointment to discuss matters of faith. A quick-fix answer here that makes you feel good, or seems like a catchy pull-quote, will never ultimately satisfy your questions. You need to ask face-to-face with real people. I wish you the best.

There are a number of reasons why they change their doctrines. One is money. Although the Bible never supported it, the Catholic Church used to extort money from its members when a loved one died. The priest would tell the grieving family that their dead loved one was suffering in purgatory, and if the priest was given money, his prayers to God would help reduce the dead one's sentence in purgatory so he could go to heaven.
As far a homosexuality goes, many churches not only allow gay people to be in good standing in the congregation, they even elect homosexuals to be their leaders. They always find some excuse to gloss over the Bible's condemnation of their lifestyle.
True Christians believe and accept the whole Bible, not just parts of it.

I THINK THAT ALL OF OUR DIFFERENT CHURCHES NO MATTER WHAT ONE, THINKS THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES GOING TO HEAVEN, SO THEY JUST READ THE PARTS OF THE BIBLE THAT PERTAIN TO THEIR CHURCH. WHICH I THINK IS WRONG, I THINK YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE BIBLE AS A WHOLE, AND NOT ADD OR TAKE AWAY FROM IT.
