Presumably you clean your face everyday but that doesn't stop spots appearing does it? Its just one of those things. Be glad it isnt bright red and on your nose where everyone can see.

If it's a "spot", then it must be a different color than the rest of your skin in that area, otherwise you wouldn't have noticed it.
Birthmarks come in many different shades and shapes and sizes. It still could be that.
Could it be coloring from being out in the sun (a tan?)
You didn't mention how old you are, so it's kind of difficult to tell from here what it might be...hahaha
Find some information about skin cancer (WAIT don't panic, that's not what I'm saying this is!!!) and just keep an eye on it. if it fades in the winter time, maybe it was a spot from the sun. If it changes or has jagged edges go see a doctor promptly. They will be able to tell you for sure what it is or whether to even worry about it.
Take care of yourself and don't worry, it's probably nothing.

How did you manage to see a spot behind your ear? What fancy mirror did you use?

I wouldn't worry about it. Even the cleanest people occasionally get spots. Just let it die off and you'll feel much better.
