my first question is:what states are you referring to when you talk about the school drop out rate because that make a difference. second of all it is the sounthern states that have a higher percentage of drop outs as oppossed to the northern states and so forth. states like Texas-where I live-, Louisiana, Mississippi,Alabama have the worst test scores in the country, and the highest percentage of the drop outs. in certain states the rate is high while in other states it is no so therefore you cannot make an overall judgement! second, yes we are paying too much even though the drop out rate is so high! some people do not have kids yet still have to pay for the education. in today's soceity many young people take the easy way out, especailly the minorities:the number 1 to drop out would be the HIspanics, followed by African Americans and then caucasians. most minorities will not get a degree nor graduate from either HS or college! then there are the people who want the easy way out and drop out and get a GED !

Weirdly, the dropout rate is lower the higher the tax. Red states have the worst dropout rates.
