Looking for a clever, appros, thoughtful, funny gift for a woman whose only child, a son, just got married. (Won't be presented at the wedding.) There must be something out there that is either really really nice or really really funny or really really clever...or all of the above! I'm drawing a blank. Any and all ideas would be very much appreciated.

MY SUGGESTION IS...................A NICE SCRAPBOOK/ALBUM FOR HER TO RECORD HER SON'S NEW JOURNEY IN LIFE..............I WOULD FIND A NICE MOTHER/SON POEM TO INCLUDE IN THE FRONT...............ONE THATS INCLUDES SOMETHING ABOUT BONDING AND ALWAYS BEING HER CHILD.........................ON THE LAST PAGE I WOULD GET A COPY OF "THE MOTHER'S CREED"...............THIS COULD GIVE HER A LOT OF JOY AND PLEASURE OVER THE YEARS.............A LEGACY TO GIVE HER FUTURE GRANDCHILDREN .....DOWN THE ROAD..............AND A REMINDER THAT SHE WILL ALWAYS BE A PART OF HER CHILD'S LIFE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,HOPE YOU LIKE THIS IDEA..........................SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO SHARE YOUR LOVED ONES WITH OTHERS..............THIS WAY SHE WILL HAVE A PURPOSE IN DOING SO..............I PRESENTED MY MOTHER-IN-LAW WITH A SIMILAR ALBUM,,,,,,,,,,,,AND IT HELPED OUR RELATIONSHIP.................HER KNOWING THAT I UNDERSTOOD...................HOW HARD IT WAS FOR HER TO SHARE HER SON WITH AN "OUTSIDER"................SHE EVENTUALLY WOULD DRAG THAT BOOK OUT AT EVERY FAMILY FUNCTION.........SHE WAS SO PROUD OF THAT BOOK....................AND SHE EVEN GAVE ONE OF HER FRIENDS ONE TOO!!!!!.......................ENJOY LIFE

Buy a ken doll that look similar to him and alter it to make it look like him- like paint a beard on it and dress him like the son. Then take the box. make it lay out flat- without ripping it. And redecorate the box. You can spray mount paper and pictures to it, write some cute "selling" points. Then add some fun items to the box- like dirty laundry, beer cans..you can make them or buy other barbie objects and paint them... what ever fits' the guy's personality. And then on the front of the box, you can market it- as the Son who never leaves home. New improved Son in a box. I have made these before and people love them! So you would put the box back together and glue gun it.

For serious- spa, dinner, movie, gift cert to lowels to remodel his old room!! Whatever you think she would like!!

I'm married to the only child/son, so get her a gift certificate to a workout place. Every time she wants to call him, see if he's eating right, or just being a busy-body, she can go workout instead. It will be healthy for both of them. (hopefully, he doesn't feel that he has to check in with mommy to often, either. Mine calls his mother every night)

How about a gift certificate for a day at the spa? After all the wedding planning, I'm sure she could use a break to relax and recharge.

Get a really nice lace handkerchief . Put it in a nice box . Tie a big beautiful BLACK ribbon around it with a card that says SAY Buy Buy To Your Baby Boy . It's the silly one you asked for .

For a silly gift, one of the gifts I gave my former mother-in-law the book "Sex For Dummies". She thought it was so hilarious that she bought me a copy too! (In hopes of getting a grandchild soon I guess!)
