hi
pigeons stay in there nest for quite a long time until they are at least adult age because if the mother and father let it come out of the nest anything could happen like becoming the dinner of a hungry fox,or or maybe getting hit by a car.The one thing that pigeons are good for is that they never get lost.they don't get lost because the a very intelligent and they remember all the road and all the houses as not all houses and roads are the same.
i hope this answer answered your question

Pigeons generally nest in enclosed areas out of the way of weather and prying human eyes. I know this because my bedroom when I was growing up had a crawl space of an attic directly above. I fell asleep each night to the lullabies of mother pigeons cooing to their babies, a sound that I can still reproduce to this very day.
A few years ago, I found a banded pigeon with an injured leg in our driveway. I got in touch with the people who owned him, but they weren't able to come get him until the next day. The poor thing was in shock and wouldn't eat the bird seed that I'd put down for him until I gave the maternal coo that I knew from my childhood. When he heard it, the bird became more alert, looked around as if he were wondering who was making 'mommy sounds', and then ate and drank. His owners came to get him the next day and all was well.

What you are seeing every day in the city ARE baby pigeons! Full-sized adult pigeons are approximately the size of the Goodyear blimp. (g)
Seriously, though----heard they stay in the nest most of the time, and ALSO that they grow really, really fast---think there was something in one of the "Imponderables" books, but can't recall which one.

Because unless you see the nest, you will never see them. The mother is very intent on sitting on them. They also feather out faster than other birds. In about one week they are fully feathered out.
