why would God need to sacrifice Himself for something He was mad at us at?

He wasn't mad at us. He did it out of love. When Jesus died on the cross he took our sins with him. If he had not done that then we could have not entered into heaven at all because of our sins. He made it possible for our sins to be forgiven. see John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Technically Jesus is the son of God so he didn't sacrifice himself, only his son. Imho, God wasn't ticked off as how could we know his moods?

I would say Jesus getting crucified to become a martyr. If you look at it, his being crucified was SO effective, people still talk about it 2000 years on.

Almighty God, Jehovah [ Exodus 6;3] was NEVER angry with Jesus. God actually 'supplied' Jesus to act as a sacrifice to buy back for us the right to again live on the earth without having to suffer sickness and death. A wonderful act of Love towards us.
We were never meant to die as we all do . It was God's plan for Adam and Eve to live on the earth forever without death. But theywere warned that if they disobeyed [ eating of the tree] the penalty would be death. And we have inherited that fault from our first parents. A perfect man, Adam, lost it and it took another perfect man, Jesus, to get it back. Legal. Any sinful man could not do, so God supplied his only son.
And Jesus is NOT God himself.
God had no beginning. and has no end. But Jesus DID have a beginning. Proverbs 8; 22-31

Seeing as jesus christ never existed in the manner and fashion that history has portrayed, the entire question is a moot point. Seek outside the box.

Seek to be individual and know your true spirit. Don't give your power away to some non-existent deity because some man in a black robe told you so; or a church told you so; or a country told you so. Don't buy it for a second, at least until you've properly investigated.

The answer is jesus didn't have to be crucified. It is moot. Move onwards in your spiritual progression and rid yourself of this poison.

He did that to show that he cares and to show how much he loves us. If God did what you are saying he should have done, people would become worse, but because Jesus was crucified, some of us feel bad and try their best not to sin. F.Y.I. God wasn't mad at everyone, everybody sins you know, some just sin more than others.

He wasn't crucified. It's all a myth.

Good concept though. Believe and all your sins are forgotten.
Unfortunately, this concept appeals to our negative side. In this case the "believers" are allowing someone else (Jesus) to take responsibility for their own weaknesses, short comings, sins, etc...

Believe what you want. Ultimately, we will all answer for what we have done and nobody is going take the heat for us.

So, take responsibility for yourself and your actions.

The idea that the creator of the human race would need/want to sacrifice himself is absurd.

If you believe in God, then sit down somwhere quiet and ask him with all sincerity to guide you. If you sincerely want the truth, He will guide you, but be ready for bumpy ride.

Good luck.

Well, why did God require that we sacrifice the blood of lambs for our sins, and to make burnt offerings unto the LORD,in the Old Testament? No more are our sins being cleansed by the blood of lambs and goats. Jesus became the final Slain Lamb, and HIS blood cleanses once and for all, saith the LORD.

Excellent question!---Closest thing I ever got to an answer on this (Lutheran church, Missouri Synod, yrs ago) was something to the effect that God demanded some level of payback
?justice ?reparations ?penalty (can't fully remember), and that's why forgiveness without sacrifice wasn't enough.

Didn't understand that logic then; don't understand it now either!

Looking forward to the answers you get....

God will never change the rules, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
(would you like the rule to change the day before you died?)

He said - Sin causes death (Romans, or leviticus). That is why animals needed to be killed in the old testement (where we got the story about scapegoats if you were curious)

Well Jesus died once and for all, so we don't need to kill cows every day. He died in our place

According to our holy Qur'an Yesus was saved by Allah and he did not be crucified.Allah replaced him by other man that his appearance almost similar with Yesus.Allah in Surah 2 Al Baqarah verse 116 spoke that someone who says that Allah has ason is included to kafir (unbeliever or believe in to other than Allah the only one God)
