so many Christians seem to think The Big Bang is the only answer any science minded individual could have? The only possibility?

Why do Christians seem to think that science already knows all there is to know and that human kind will never know more than we do right now?

Isn't that rather closed minded and foolish?

You ask "What was there before the Big Bang" and then, when it can't be answered, you point that out as being "fact in support of god".

It doesn't mean there's no support. It only means we don't know YET. There's more for us to discover. That doesn't mean science won't find out, it just means we don't know RIGHT NOW.

At least we don't claim that we do know everything right now like Christianity tries to do.

When did I say that my belief was the Big Bang?

Please do point it out for me.

I'm a scientist at heart, always will be, and I can tell you now that is NOT the only theory out there. Instead of fixating on the Big Bang or completely dismissing anything that goes against your bible, you might like to try to do some actual research into the theories of the beginning of the universe and the nature of it's laws.

As to letting god prove his existance, he's done no such thing in millenia. So until he shows his face to all of us non believers.....

Defensive.. hardly. If I were defensive, I wouldn't be so polite as I am now.

However, it's incredibly aggravating watching people try to argue against The Big Bang when it's obvious they know nothing about it or the other theories of the beginning of the universe.

It's like watching people try to argue against human evolution while using the term monkey when we aren't descended from monkey's and evolution doesn't say we are. It only shows they don't have a leg to stand on.

How do you propose I explain to you the nature of the different creation of the universe theories if you don't understand cosmology, physics, and astronomy?

It's far too broad a topic to cover in a few sentences.

I suggest you do your own research. At least that way you can't claim that I'm lying.

David, I'm Wiccan. One thing about Wicca is that it doesn't conflict with science.

If I understand this Question right after several rereads.
Science is still looking for a how rather than a what.
Something needs to be there before as Energy and then matter do not create themselves. What WAS there before then?
Two atoms do not just appear out of nowhere and collide to make a big bang(action and movement.). the same as creationism . spoke a word(still and action and movement.).
Christians are going on faith rather than scientific fact(which can be added later)
Just believing in the Big Bang is also closed minded and foolish.
As there is little difference between the two Ideas. Other than an accident or intelligent design. Neither of which can be proved to each sides satisfaction.

Why are you so defensive about what you believe- It's OK to believe the big bang theory and the evolution of the universe, the creation of matter, the stars the planets, life on earth the rapid expansion of the universe and the death of the universe. It you are a legitimate scientist you don't have to argue those facts with anyone who does not believe in your thoughts and ideas. I hope you are not the kinda person who gets easily bent out of shape or intolerant of other people opinions and ideas that's different from your own. That would be a shame

Isn't it also close-minded and foolish to generalize all of a large religion's feelings or thoughts into one? I am a Christian and believe quite differently. There are some that do not ponder or search for those answers, the believe blindly and don't care to delve deeper. There is much more to be learned and if you look at how far we've come in the past 200 years especially, you must also admit that we will come to understand much more in the coming years. We do believe that God is, was, and always will be, but before the earth there were angels as well. I do not mean to offend by my first statement, so please don't take offense. I work in the medical field and we learn more everyday, especially in medicine. The world is dynamic and always changing, and so we must learn to accomodate and change with it. I as a Christian do not claim to know everything, there are many things even in our faith that we will not know until the end. Please don't be bitter with us all, even if some left a bad taste in your mouth. Take care and God bless you.

Why is it that...?
so many Atheists seem to think The Big Bang is the only answer any science minded individual could have? The only possibility?

Why do Atheists seem to think that science already knows all there is to know and that human kind will never know more than we do right now?

Isn't that rather closed minded and foolish?

You ask "What was there before the Big Bang" and then, when it can't be answered, you point that out as being irrelevant...

It doesn't mean there's no support. It only means we don't know YET. There's more for us to discover. That doesn't mean science won't find out, it just means we don't know RIGHT NOW.

At least we don't claim that we do know everything right now like Atheism tries to do.

I would say as a Christian, let us stop trying to prove God through science...and, to all atheists, let us stop trying to DISPROVE God through science. Because as you admit, man does not have all the knowledge required to make such claims.

And let God prove His own existence by way of the Holy Spirit, not human argument (though not to discourage anyone from preaching the Gospel, which we are called to do!).

I am not a Christian.I am a Farian. And the Farian faith says that the universe was indeed created by a big bang!

"And then he said, "Now I shall call forth lands and stars and they shall become in an instant and this shall be a glorious bang".And he then waived his wand and a bang, like no other before or again, brought forth the lands and the stars". B.B. 1:3

We are not interested of the particulars, because we already know the ending.

Because Christians are anxious, like little children, who cannot wait to have what they want. And unbelievers are like adults, who have already learnt that everything comes in its due time.

You have your faith, we have ours. It's all about faith. Your's is just in the big bang "theory".
