We say, "I'm in a car", "I'm on a train" and "I'm on a ship". But we don't say "in a train", "in a ship" and "on a car". Why not? I mean...I've been speaking English for 7 years but I still don't understand lots of things. Like why do we prnouce know as nou instead of k nou? English is a strange language...

English is my second language after my native language of Romanian and I swear that even after 11 years in the US i do not understand why people add vowels or consonants to a word and pronounce the word different then its original meaning. people add r's and other letters where there are none and say that the word is German except the German language from what I understand does ot have the pronunciation of the "r". English is the only language where you write something yet read it as something else and that makes everything so complicated!they make one thing silent like one letter or two or put an accent on other letters in the word that it makes your brain overthink how to pronunce the word! i only wish that English was as easy as Romanian,Spanish, Italian or any other romantic languages where how you write is how you read it!

You are right to the point! I still don't understand English, even though I still learning English, the hardest thing is to understand and use the grammar correctly....it is a strange language. I heard people said English itself is a mixture of French, or Greek language. Or probably mixture of other language too.

Either would be correct, only the sentence doesn't flow as nice.
As for how to pronounce knew, there is silent letters in any language.

For instance a consonant in french at the end of a word isn't pronounced unless followed by a vowel.
