EDIT: The roach coaches in LA sometime have pretty good Mexican Style Tacos: 3 inch double soft tortillas with carne asade, and salsa(tomato, onion, cilantro, hot chile peppers, lime juice, garlic, salt and pepper). Also Carnitas(pork), but one of my favs is sesos, Don't Ask!! Of course none of these have cheese.

Depends on where you live. I know in some regions of the country there are no places besides Taco Bell or Del Taco. I live in the Los Angeles area and a good taco can be found anywhere. I would ask around.

Rosarito. I kid you not, I had some carnitas a few years ago that were so good that the hair in out table's bowl of guacamole didn't stop anybody. We just prayed that the alcohol in our margaritas would kill any germs we ate! I live in San Diego, which is like Mexico Jr. so we have some incredible Mexican food. I love El Cotixan and a couple of the Roberto's taco shops are pretty good. I had a great carne asada taco for like $1 at a cart in an Oakland swap meet. I guess what I'm saying is, you need to go to a taco shop/taqueria.
