Its not your responsibility to bail your mother out of this. Maybe loosing her home is what its going to take for her to realize she has a problem.
Good luck.

You sure do not!!
Your mother has a mental health issue. Most family members do throw there mentally ill relative on the streets as it is (or send them off to a "home". Why add your mother to the mix?
Get her help, TAKE OVER HER ACCOUNT! She has a mental disorder get judgment over her! Then set up bill pay for her bills.
Right now go to the seniors and disabled office and demand some help for her. Tell them of what is happening.
Do not give up on her....Some (most if not all) mental illnesses are genetics and some set in late in life.......Keep this in mind when you make your decision to help your mother....

Yes and no. Make a condition of helping her that she get treatment for her shopping addiction. It is truly a medical problem (the AMA is currently working to have it listed as a genuine disability) and it needs treatment.
If she refuses, let her fall, but not too far. She is your mother afterall, make sure she has numbers for shelters, a way to get food etc. but do not risk YOUR life to enable her addiction.

Take her paycheck and deposit it into your checking account and pay her bills with it. And then give her an allowance to spend every week.

buy her house from her yourself.
try to convince her to owner-finance the sale, that way she doesn't get the money all at once.
or apply to the court for power of attorney over her affairs.
or both.
