If the birthday party is for a yound child, then choose finger sandwiches with mayonnaise, lettuce, cheese and ham/salmon/turkey or chicken breast/bacon or small pies stuffed with frankfurters, minced meat, omelette or scrambled eggs. You can also offer meat or chicken roll in fat slices. Potato chips is a must as well as lots of pop corn and a birthday cake with beautiful glazing illustrating Harry Potter, Cars or something similar.
For drinks, you can have mineral water, baby champagne, sodas but avoid fruit or tomato juices because they stain.

Good luck!

Depends on what kind of food the birthday boy/girl likes to eat since it's his/her birthday! Their favourite would be the best birthday party food.

Big party subs and cupcakes shaped into a cake - we did one shaped like a lady bug for my daughter's garden-theme party. Chips and dip, juice boxes, fruit and veggie trays. All easy to serve, easy to eat and easy to clean up.

Salad/pasta, light sandwiches for those whom the pizza might be a big "heavy" for their tummies. For the adults, jambalaya always works well. Juice, ice tea and soda for beverages.
