The individual soul and the Supreme soul or God are beyond the scrutiny of empirical science, the symptom of the soul is consciousness, which also cannot be empirically demonstrated, but obviously exists, because you must be conscious to read this answer via the manifestation of consciousness through the biological material body and subtle mind.

To understand consciousness, firstly it must be understood that you are the soul, not the material body and the symptom of the soul is consciousness or awareness, just as there is individual consciousness emanating from each soul, there is also a supreme, all pervading consciousness, or God. Both are individual and both contain personality, which is the topmost feature of both.

The material body is simply a biological machine, a very complex machine but it is also an impersonal, external, inferior energy composed of molecules and atomic particles. The material body is never the same twice, it is constantly changing, in a state of constant flux and perpetual motion.

Within the material body is a subtle or astral body composed of mind, intelligence and ego.Consciousness, which is a symptom of the soul or self, manifests through the subtle mind and intelligence, similarly to a programme manifesting through a television set, the television set is not the primary cause of the programme, just as the mind is not the primary cause of consciousness.

Beneath the subtle body is the eternal, original spiritual body that is eternal, self aware and blissful. The symptom of the real self, which has individual identity is, as previously stated, consciousness itself, consciousness is not material, therefore it is beyond the boundaries of experimental empirical science and the mundane materially minded mental speculators and some philosophers.

So, once consciousness and the soul or self has been understood, then in the human form of life, a choice must be made as to whether each individual chooses to perform material or worldly activities, therefore creating a certain type of mentality, which at the time of death will leave the old material body and by nature's direction be awarded with another material form, perfectly suited to the mentality that has been created, under the influence of the three modes of material nature, goodness, passion and ignorance.

However, if the individual is a wise and enlightened person, then that person will seek to purify the subtle body and remove any material contamination of the mind and intelligence, by spiritual activities, when the subtle body is cleansed, then just like a pure pool of water, the individual can perceive their real identity as an eternal spiritual being, this is pure consciousness, they can rationally perceive spiritual reality, the source of that reality and the effects of inferior energy in its various forms within any individual who is conditioned by material desires and activities, which is a polluted state of consciousness and leads to further material encagement within the prisonhouse of material existence.

Science proves only physical matter right down to splitting the atom. Einstein apparently was not far of discovering the soul prior to his death. He had interests that were not orthodox science. So he was not taken seriously until he made discoverys that made man start to question life itself.

We, the soul, are not physical matter, our body is. We are not our body, we are not identified by our flesh. Only we identify ourselves by our flesh.

To prove a souls energy is to prove God exists, no one to date has done that.

Faith is acquired out of seeing first then believing. Faith is belief without seeing......

Human nature has always wanted 'proof' to see how this works or how that works, only to find that it works 'fine' and not really knowing why...but it works. We keep missing the message as we just don't seem to be getting it.

Fact: Man walks - No need for remote control

If we bought our selves in a box we would probably have written on the side:

Comes in two sizes: Medium & Large

2 or 4 x AA Batteries required. Rechargeables Highly Recommended. Check Use-by-date. Warning: Do not throw on open fire.

Small Size still pending......lol

Pretty much describe us huh?

I think the scientific proof of souls existence within self is staring us in the face quite frankly. Why test what we can already see and feel?

If we look within self, we will come to know our soul self.......there's our proof, and it's in our face - right there. We need to turn our faces inwards and have a good peek around. Science experiment is for those we need a lab for to dissect and re-create.

However we don't need a lab for our Soul - we do the dissecting with the power of our thoughts, who needs a test tube for that? We do enough damage with our thoughts or no thought at all.

If we dont go within - we go without.

When we go without, we keep trying to fix what was not broken, we just refuse see it. We are then putting it back together all wrong. It was fine just as it was the way it was.

The Soul is synonym for Quality of Governing the Personal Life. The science has not interest to proof this quality.Parents and society have primal wish to continue the life and to create productive powers (executors of orders-slaves)to support it.For them are productive powers which ensure body's comfort (food, cloth, shelter, entertainment).
There are also other very different personal inclinations in the humans which wait to be satisfied. They are not always productive (joy to be free,to play etc.) according with social standards.Their fulfilment requires the Soul, independent governing with personal life. The soul is damped from the birth by conditioning. Can be restored through the recapitulation of the personal life (from birth till today).Insight in our past and instructions how to effectively manage our own personal energy leads to soul's growth.Good luck

The individual self is nothing more than a thought or an idea. Sri Ramana Maharshi, the famous saint who taught the process of Self-inquiry, said that this thought, which he called 'I'-thought, originates from a place called the Heart-centre, which he located on the right side of the chest in the human body. From there the 'I'-thought rises up to the brain and identifies itself with the body: 'I am this body.' It then creates the illusion that there is a mind or an individual self which inhabits the body and which controls all its thoughts and actions. The 'I'-thought accomplishes this by identifying itself with all the thoughts and perceptions that go on in the body. For example, 'I' (that is the 'I'-thought) am doing this, 'I' am thinking this, 'I' am feeling happy, etc. Thus, the idea that one is an individual person is generated and sustained by the 'I'-thought and by its habit of constantly attaching itself to all the thoughts that arise. Sri Ramana maintained that one could reverse this process by depriving the 'I'-thought of all the thoughts and perceptions that it normally identifies with. Sri Ramana taught that this 'I'-thought is actually an unreal entity, and that it only appears to exist when it identifies itself with other thoughts. He said that if one can break the connection between the 'I'-thought and the thoughts it identifies with, then the 'I'-thought itself will subside and finally disappear. Sri Ramana suggested that this could be done by holding onto the 'I'-thought, that is, the inner feeling of 'I' or 'I am' and excluding all other thoughts. As an aid to keeping one's attention on this inner feeling of 'I', he recommended that one should constantly question oneself 'Who am I?' or 'Where does this "I" come from?' He said that if one can keep one's attention on this inner feeling of 'I', and if one can exclude all other thoughts, then the 'I'-thought will start to subside into the Heart-centre.

This, according to Sri Ramana, is as much as the devotee can do by himself. When the devotee has freed his mind of all thoughts except the 'I'-thought, the power of the Self pulls the 'I'-thought back into the Heart-centre and eventually destroys it so completely that it never rises again. This is the moment of Self-realization

there is a total misconception of what the word soul is supposed to mean. It was meant as a person at first. People did not have souls, they were souls. When they talked of saving souls or entered how many souls in the church or a ships log they meant how many people. Just when it got perverted into the meaning of something a person had or that could be stolen from a person I don't know.
You do not have a soul, Rahim, you ARE a soul

I couldn't find the link but I read about German scientists trying to prove that the soul is real by weighing people at the exact moment of death. Apparently they came up with a weight for the soul claiming that at the moment of death all their subjects immediately "lost" this same amount of weight. I don't remember what the weight was but it was minuscule. Shoulda saved that link when I found it.

EDIT: Here's a small link I found talking about it a lil but it's not the one I saw originally that went in depth.

No, but the very term "soul" needs to be defined before this question can be answered. It is a very loose term, and is not specific enough to be able to conduct studies or research on. The term "soul" often means different things to different people and cultures. Therefore I don't think it is a tangible thing that can be tested using scientific method.

You don't need scientific proof to believe in something; just look at the Christians.
