Probably you are looking in the $1,000 range, give or take. Find a breeder through the national clubs by going through www.akc.org. Do NOT simply find one on the internet unless you plan on going the breeder's facility to check it out. Expect a reputable breeder to quiz you and check you out - just as you will them. Be patient and honest and prepared to wait for your new family member - it is worth it. Saluki's are lovely dogs and can live healthy, long lives if they come from good lines. Good luck!

Saluki Puppies

Fairly pricey as I recall.

FIgure $900 for a pet puppy and up to $2000 for a show prospect.

Go here for information about the breed and breeders:

http://www.salukiclub.org/

http://www.salukiclub.org/breedinfo/breeder.htm

This is the National Breed CLub recognized by the AKC.

The breeders listed on the club site all abide by the Breeder's Code of Ethics and are concerned about producing sound healthy dogs so they do all the health exams for hereditary conditions before breeding and stand behind their puppies - we are talking written contract here. They are committed to their breed and have been doing this for years - it is not some backyard breeder who decides "gee wouldn't it be fun to have a litter..."

To contact breeders, use the email link at the bottom of the page on the second link.

Now they also have breed rescue that the club runs.

Seriously consider adopting a dog that needs rehomed.

http://www.salukiclub.org/committees/rescue.htm

The rescues go to great trouble to match the dog to the home and are always available for help and advice about the dog. You get the breed you want and are spared peed on newspaper, teething and the other not-so-fun things with puppies.

I live in one of the most outrageously overpriced enclaves of one of the most outrageously overpriced cities in the world, so the average cost of a house here is so audaciously, absurdly, bewilderingly high people usually blink a few times and then say "that's outrageous." The median home price for the zip code where my mom and stepdad live was $3,367,167 last fall. That doesn't buy you a mansion worthy of being in a remake of "The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." For that sum you get a fairly unspectacular home on a surprisingly small lot of land, and your reaction to it would probably be "meh" until you found out the price. If it was transported to Ohio it would probably cost somewhere around $300,000. I was in awe of a family friend's home that we stayed in on a visit to Nashville last year, and even more shocked to discover that their gorgeous estate chock full of state-of-the-art amenities was on the market for around the same price as a totally yawn-inducing house here with a kitchen stuck in the 80s. I love my dad's neighborhood much more because it's less pretentious and has more natural beauty, but I still think the home prices are ridiculous. I did a quick Google search and found a Forbes article from last September that listed the median single-family home price as $2,277,172. Once again, that's just the cost for an ordinary, three or four bedroom house. That's actually considerably less than it was a couple of years ago during the real estate bubble. You explored the area where I live on your trip to LA last year. After taking a peak around, do you think it's really worthwhile, or would you agree that it's........... outrageously overpriced? The really alarming thing is that in comparison to London where my mom and stepdad lived for the past three years, LA is affordable. o.O ((((E))))) ~ Peace

It depends. Saluki pups are very hard to place and if you are a good home for a Sighthound you may be able to get one for very little. However, if cost is your main concern, good luck.

Go to some field trials to meet breeders. Find out where at asfa.com

It's all merely a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys such as it. And i prefer a guy with short hair over a man with long hair because long tresses tends to make guys look too girly.

Why do you need to buy a purebred? There are thousands of dogs put to death every day due to overpopulation. Please rescue one of them, instead of supporting the breeders.
