i've posted this once.... just want to know if anyone else if wanted to answer or offer some encouragement to this struggling sister.

i thought it was interesting. please read all the info b4 you respond (or judge)

I am a kafir today.
Yesterday it was not so,
and tomorrow it may not be.

Today it is not a hijab;
only a scarf,
only cloth.

The word Muslim is merely a noun,
a title.
I have taken the action from it;
I do not submit.

What is so new of this life?
where "reason oft is quenched by whims."

My eyes have lost their sight,
and my ears fallen deaf.
yet i know there are miracles to be seen,
and a message to be heard...
but still i am unable.

I am a kafir today.
yesterday it was not so,
and tomorrow it may not be.

ps like the young lady from the uk said.... from what i understood and what i think... she is not saying that her scarf is oppressive or her religion is bad.... i just think she is struggling

Maybe our sister is going through a crisis involving faith, and she may, insha'Allah (God willing) find her "sight" again with greater clarity...my understanding of the verses is that the dimensions and depth that ensue with faith are, at least temporarily, gone, but in saying "and tomorrow it may not be" her heart is not shut...The following verses seem to indicate that she's only looking at the surface, I don't know if you understand me, it seems she is seeing only the denotational meaning in which hijab is seen as a piece of cloth, and Muslim as a mere "empty" word.

"Today it is not a hijab;
only a scarf,
only cloth" and

"The word Muslim is merely a noun,
a title.
I have taken the action from it;
I do not submit."

She needs to look at the deeper meanings, and the reflect on connotations associated with these and other words within an Islamic realm of meaning.

I am not a Moslem but she is obviously struggling with her religion and is having some doubts about it as we all do at various stages in life. I would imagine she is under 30 and once she is over 30 she will go back to her religion. she is questioning in her mind as to what is feasible and what isnt. there is nothing you can do she has to work it all out for herself. If she is in England she realises that Islam is not acceptable to everyone here and she is wondering whether hers is the right religion or not. Everyone has periods of doubt but she will go back to her religion later on in life when she comes across various problems.

to the lady who said wearing a scarf is oppresive. Oh please, in your faith, wearing nothing is ok. Dont force nudity on us. We muslims respect our sisters, mothers and daughters, and we do not want that Lustful men of any faith cast their wrong eyes on a women. They would only do so, if she is dressed immodestly as most modern day christians do.
Secondly, most chriantians dont themselves know their own faith. It is written in the Bible that a women who doesnot cover her head while praying, her head should be shaved off. Islam is no where close to being so strict. You see the picture of mother mary, How is she dressed. In a skirt?!???,,,,,,,,, Open your eyes chriantians and know ur own faith first before crtisizing us Muslims.

being a Muslim requires the suppression of rational thought, she is awakening to foolishness of being a Muslim. If there is a creator who created the universe he gets upset if a woman doent wear a scarf .....doesn't that set off alarm bells? doesn't it set off alarm bells that the moral and codes of practice the Mohamed espoused are the ones of a Pre Islamic society he lived in? isn't that a coincidence , that divinely correct lifestyle is exactly the way his culture was at a historically point in time?
set your self free, Islam is an illusion
