Truffle
There are two different types of truffles, but you are much more likely to eat one than the other! Chocolate truffles are made of chilled ganache, rolled into balls and then coated in candy coating, powdered sugar, nuts or cocoa. The other truffle is a fungus, or mushroom, which grows at the base of oak trees and is extremely expensive. These truffles are also extremely pungent, and can flavor raw eggs when simply stored in the same container! Real truffles can cost up to $2,000 a pound.
Pronunciation: TRUFF l • (noun)
Examples: The truffles were made with poire William and coated with confectioner's coating. OR The truffles were found by a truffle hound, dug, and sold at the farmer's market.

It is really a type of mushroom type food that is a delicacy and it is used in chocolates as it has a very exotic woodsy flavor. It is found underground near the roots of trees and has been used in European gourmet foods and desserts for a long time. It is expensive.

I've eaten both but the expensive type is not very flavorful.. You get them in jars at Italian Markets and put them in eggs or something, but I don't know what people see or taste in them. Really nothing at all to me. But I love caviar, frogs legs, snails, squid, and octopus, mmmmmmm.
