It's really scary eh? I think they're trying to get kids to aspire to be strippers & porn stars.

Because it sells and because there are some big adult sized kids out there. Haven't you noticed the regular clothes too? That's why there has to be dress codes in school that have my 6 year old neighbor sent home on a hot day because her shoulders were exposed! Try looking at different types of costumes. When our church did Halloween the only costumes allowed were animals, and the theme Noah's Arc.

Well, here are some ideas that are pretty simple and easy to pull together. Boy Scout- Find a boy scout uniform at a thrifts store (or steal one from your brother, like I'm doing ) and only use the shirt, hat and scarf. Wear a denim minskirt (if you don't want to be too revealing or something, wear leggins under) and boots. there you have it! You're a Boy Scout! Pirate: A pirate's fairly easy to do. Just get a stripe shirt, a long head scarf and some pirate-esque black boots, pair 'em with some dark pants, and you're a pirate!

Unfortunatly sex sales and I see what you mean. I dont understand it either. I feel bad for this generation of children and the choices they have to make and do make. You really have to look out there for clothes in general, let alone a halloween costume thats suitable for a child. I bought my daughter one of those poofy princess dresses for halloween. I set guidelines with my kids on what they can wear and stick to it. I really feel for you, I know what your going through, its sad that adults are marketing things that should not be marketed for children.

Well- if you look at clothes that teenagers wear to school you wouldn't have to ask this question. It seems that the least amount of clothing is acceptable now. I have a 6 year old and I am so picky about what she wears. Sex is just to open these days. That is why you see so many sexy costumes- SEX.

That is cause some people think it is cute to see the teens in these types of costumes, but I for one do not like it at all. I also think it is telling that child it is ok to be like that. I am also an old fashion type of person.

They do that for the mature people who want to buy them. Sex appeal sells and they know it, i recently went out and saw many costumes suitable for a young girl, good luck on your hunt and dont let the costumes that are adult oriented disturb you they will always be there because again sex sells

OMG I know how you feel. I've been looking with my daughter(she is 12 yrs old) online for a costume also, and wow the selections we have to choose from are scary! They are things that I consider "bedroom" clothes. I don't know any age appropriate sites --- but good luck, let me know if you find any.

OH I TOTALLY AGREE_ SLEAZE BALLS!
The regular retail clothes for young girls are "hoochy" as well. I was so disgusted by that-too low or see through tops and glittery short shirts or low rise pants-just gross~... I had my girls dress up from the 50's and played Grease for a week and taught then the hand jive and it was so much fun making the costumes. It took all week as well.

Think about their marketing strategies. As a teen, girl or boy, they are probably interested primarily in the opposite sex, not in candy. So to attract the opposite sex, dressing accordingly would make quite an impact.
