We are wondering if the one that runs through Austin, TX is in any way related to the one in Colorado. Thanks!

Nope. The Colorado River which starts in Colorado, flows through SE Utah, into Arizona (The Grand Canyon), forms the border of Arizona and California, and finally empties (if it doesn't run out of water first) into the Gulf of California.
The Colorado River of Texas: "862 mile long river flows generally southeast from Dawson County through Marble Falls, Austin, Bastrop, Smithville, La Grange, Columbus, and Bay City before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico at Matagorda Bay."
