I mean religion certainly shouldn't be about power, wealth, and deception yet it seems that the catholic church is full of it. Not to mention the scandals that constantly occur among priests., that's just creepy.

Well as regards to having the right to criticize, and them being tolerant, what difference does it make whether they are tolerant to what I'm saying, they still are creating a cash cow off of people's beliefs, and to that response where all religion is for wealth and power, that is simply not true., there are plenty of people that take vows of poverty in the name of religion. that isn't exactly going after riches or power.

'The catholic church created a protective wall of sacred images, archetypal images are so packed with meanings that people dont ask what they mean anymore , although they are full of symbolism which goes back to before the christian church existed , these were the antique mysteries and reach back into the gray mists of neolilthic preshistory" (Velikosky) of course the catholic church guarding the secrets of human history is rich... And besides the greatness of the Catholic church is that it allows you to criticize the priests and the Vatican without labeling you and condemning you..

No, because the Vatican's "riches" are used to support programs to help the poor, the oppressed, the hungry and the sick all over the world. Obscene wealth means wealth that does no good - creates no jobs, feeds no hungry, heals no sick. This is very far from what the Vatican, and the Catholic Church as a whole, does. Actually, the Vatican generally runs a defecit. In those years in which it has run a surplus (expenses have been less than income) the amount has been small (around 3 million euros in 2004 - less than $4 million at the time). For a Church with a billion members, that's a tiny amount.

Because the Catholic church has its history in wealth and power, specifically that of whatever royalty was in charge at the time. Because rulers could pump money into the church and make them do what the ruler wanted them to do, it became more of a business than a matter of faith.
Money = power and the church ended up with both.

One of the titles of the Pope is:
SERVANT OF THE SERVANTS OF CHRIST.
Why is it that the Catholic Church has such a rich, elaborate headquarters (The Vatican), and so much power? What do you suggest? Sell it to one of the many billionaires?
The scandals are awful! No matter where they are found.
Blessings! :-)

Instead of criticizing the Catholic church try to appreciate it since it allows people to make comments and criticism without threatening them or labeling them .. It is sure a good example of tolerance.

Religion should be a way of living. It should not be only limited to beliefs and ceremony. It should encompass to how we bring ourselves from dusk to dawn, how we eat, how we treat the elderly, how we treat our parents, how should we treat criminals, POWs etc.
Catholicism is full of fraud. Their priests in Vatican knows that they are only telling their followers 1/2 of the truths. The pope and other Catholic mafia want to limit their power within small circles rather than letting the masses be involved and manage their own daily rituals. I mean, how could a bunch of celibate / gay priests tell normal straight people to to live their lives if they themselves do not have the experience of having wife and children??

(Revelation 18:11-13) “Also, the traveling merchants of the earth are weeping and mourning over her, because there is no one to buy their full stock anymore, 12 a full stock of gold and silver and precious stone and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet; and everything in scented wood and every sort of ivory object and every sort of object out of most precious wood and of copper and of iron and of marble; 13 also cinnamon and Indian spice and incense and perfumed oil and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and horses and coaches and slaves and human souls.
Sound familiar?

It shouldn't have power? Religion is man-made...I don't know if you are familiar with the Gospel, but Jesus preached against religion. His teaching? Simply put, Love God , Love people. Religion, like the catholic church is oppressive. True Christianity is freedom. Anything man-made will be broken and wrong, just like we are, until we are in a relationship with Jesus.
