The worst thing is feeling so frustrated that so many people are trapped inside a delusion, and fearing that this delusion is leading people to make Armageddon a self-fulfilling prophecy.
We are on the verge of real enlightenment, of being able to cure almost any disease, and being able to harness the energy of the sun. We could make a real utopia. But people would rather fight and die over their particular interpretation of 2500 year old myths.

Hi - that's easy. The worst thing about being an atheist is:
1. Being thought of as immoral.
2. Being thought of as a communist.
3. Being thought of as un-whole.
4. Being thought of as condemned to hell.
5. Being thought of as evil.
There's probably more but that's the jist of it.

Learning to accept the fact that there is no magical father figure watching over you that loves you, and that we are all alone. I am able to accept that though, because I can now take control of my own happiness and my own life. I live in the here and now.

Nothing at all, although some would say,it takes faith to come to THAT conclusion, and there is the connundrum. The bible says "faith without works is dead" ; therefore if you feel you have done your research, and are well versed in that area, then go that route. If not, take another look.

i'm not atheist but agnostics get the same kind of ridiculous smirking smugness of imaginary elitism from Christians that you see revealed by the answers given by Christians to your query. if you're not one of them you have to put up with them being like that. ya end up alternating between giggling hilarity at their self absorbed concept of holiness to wanting to puke having to realize how stupid and callow humans can be.

If you don't believe in and pray to a higher power, how can you have hope? If everything is just randomly happening without divinity, what is the point of your existence? If you don't believe in God and his expectations of us, who are you accountable to? If you don't believe that God loves you, how can you believe that man (any person) loves you?
Hopelessness
Pointlessness
Lack of accountability
Unloved
Those are the worst things of being an atheist.

In America?
Being a minority, and being almost completely unable to hold public office.
There is more open prejudice against atheists in america than there is against any other demographic.
