Has anyone else experienced this problem? A friend of mine's dog ate a paintball and died 5 days later after a lot of suffering.

He went to the Vet soon after he started showing signs, died anyway, after vet said he should be fine.

I have checked the net and there are plenty more stories of paintballs killing dogs.

paintballs are non toxic, but there is a chance it could of gotten lodged in the intestine and this can and will kill the dog. The paintball itself probably did not kill it if it caused a blockage that would and could kill the dog.
My son has paintballs and his beloved ferret accidently ingested one of them well it died a day later and it was because the paintball got lodged into his intestine.

If the vet said all's ok, it wasn't the paintball. If your friend was letting his dog eat paintballs then it's likely something else bad happened to his dog to make it die.

I would doubt it was the paintball.

If you are talking about modern paintballs fired from a marker for sport, these are non-toxic and a friend of mine ate 50 of them for a pool of $50. He said he pooped greasy pink all that night, but no other ill effects.

Some say its non-toxic and humans have ate it and haven't really fell ill.. But for other animals I'm sure it works differently.

For instance, I've heard that most dogs are lactose intolerant (can't eat dairy products), so you never know with the paint ball. All animals have different immune systems.

RIP to that dog

unless dogs can be killed by something like vegetable oil , it wasnt the paintball
paintballs basically consist of something identical to vegetable oil
they are comletely non toxic to humans and pets

my brothers dog ate a rock. It died after they operated on it to remove the rock from its gut. not sure why it died though, it was about a week after its operation.
