I just read on the dictionary n turns out this is hypocrasy: "insincerity by virtue of pretending to have qualities or beliefs that you do not really have" n its a synonym of dishonesty!! So when we lie to someone about how we really feel about them even if he/she is a family member aren't we hypocrates??

Ok ...Vivian I agree with you when you say someone ask you something you dont wanna answer n have to say something right away.... like that pregnant woman...what I think is wrong is that precisly: "Lying"!! Why not avoid the true by saying...another true like; "I really love that dress you are wearing it fits you great!" You'll be considerate n honest! In stead of saying hurtfull things right? Then why do we keep lying?

sometimes you want to say something, but some part of your brain tells you to STOP! because you'll start an arguement...
it's good to be honest, but we have to watch HOW we say things, and sometimes we have to ask ourselves: "do I REALLY need to say something?" sometimes it's much better to keep some thoughts to ourselves, and i don't think that makes you a hypocrate.
it's like this: your 8 1/2 months pregnant sister/mother/aunt asks you: "Do I look fat?" .... are you gonna break their heart by telling "YES, you look like a hepher!", only to be honest and not a hypocrate... or would you rather say: "you look great" just to avoid hurting her?

Yes, but even though two words are synonyms, they can each have shades of meaning. Minor dishonesty is rarely a synonym of hypocrasy. In order to turn dishonesty into hypocrasy you have to understand the motive. A motive of love rules out hypocraxy.

Yes we are, When it comes to family sometimes we're hypocrites just because we want to keep peace within the family.Sometimes it really hurts when we are told the truth when it isn't ask for. Such as telling your Mother something she didn't need to know all the while knowing it would break her heart. Hypocrites sometimes have a way of revealing how they feel in their actions. Sometimes it's not what you say, it's what you do.

One thing you will realize in your life is that the more HONEST you are to everyone in your life you actually earn respect and people may not always appreciate what you have to say, but over time, they will know that no matter what you will not sugar coat or exagerate the truth, it is very hard to find such hard core honest people, I hope you can stick to your conviction to be honest. Have a GREAT day.

for alot of families (thankfully not mine really), yea they are. IN my family we bare it all, no holds barred, iv'e always been honest with my family, because i expect them to be honest with me. And my parents don't sugar-coat anything, when i mess up or somethin ain't right, it's let known, same goes with me. Only 2 major incidents where there was dishonesty, and after the drama that surmounted it was obvious honesty is the medicine best taken for relief.
