Do you really think that David Koresh memorized the Bible?
Consider that he called himself a religious leader; and he surrounded himself with weak-minded people who were looking for some sort of direction in their lives. He played really loud, awful rock music and played electric guitar and sang...?
How on earth could anyone look up to him? All he had to do was allow the Federal investigators in when they had knocked the first time, but instead he thought he was the Second Coming of Christ and decided to have a showdown with the Federal Government.
He lost, and many of his followers died in the process. Is this what a responsible Christian leader does for his people?
He was a nut, nothing more.

In some ways I envy him that he could do it,but without real understanding so I'm thankful for what I have. It challenges me to work harder at memorizing more. There are some good memory courses for anyone serious enough to work at it. It doesn't surprise me. Satan knows the Bible backwards and forwards too.
No excuse for not working harder at memorizing the Bible. Some of the Muslims do a good job with their book---Quran?
Just proves it can be done.

Amazing. Absolutely Amazing. Its a pity that more of us haven't memorized the Bible in its entirety. It certainly couldn't hurt. The Bible is the most unusual and amazing work of literature that has ever been given to mankind. Nothing exerts more influence on the history of mankind. Sorry about Koresh, I guess he should have thought about what he memorized. Maybe he would have been a better influence on his parishioners.

God surmounts to everything of this world. Memorizing the bible is David Koresh’s way of showing his faith in God.
I consider myself a religious man—faithful to my religion and everything that comes along with it. Although, memorizing the bible is sort of excessive for me--I have other means to express my love for God.

Well,,,for one, do some research and you would be amazed how many muslims send their children to Memorize the Quran...Its A miracal of the Word of God. I know atleast 5 children in my close family not older then 9 years who have memorized the Quran. It is even more amazing when you know that these children memorize it in Arabic, a Languaguage which they do not know. Millions of muslims all across the globe, even those who do not know Arabic have memorized the Quran. Its a very common phenomenon in the Muslim world and such Muslims who know the whole Quran by heart are known as "Hafiz" The Reason God allowed Quran to be so easily memorized by so many, since God says in the Quran that all previous scriptures sent by him were changed and by people to follow their vain desires, Even if some one changes the quran contents, he would be caught since millions of muslims know the book by heart. God Bless you

I agree that he was crazy.
Actually, lots of people have memorized the bible. Al Zaquari memorized the Koran. If you are obsessed enough you can memorize War and Peace....just proves that an evolved human brain is capable of a lot of storage.
But GIGO still applies

Man I wish I could remember 1/2 of the Bible the way he did....but I rather know only 1/2 than to end up in hell for claiming I was Jesus and for being responsible for the death of all those people .

Like most cults the leader persuades men to put their faith in the leader rather than God. Once they do this they are doomed to accepting the leaders interpretation on any verse no matter how irrational it is. If they question the leader it is considered the same as questioning God himself. Jim Jones ( Remember Guyana) threw the bible down and shouted who are you gonna believe me or that book? Well unfortunately they put their faith in him. Sad . God doesn't mind people asking questions and doesn't feel threatened. Truth is never injured by honest enquiry,
