How come when I delete a saved web page (from IE), XP knows to delete the associated web page folder?

Regarding the response of pages being linked to the folder... If I delete the folder first, the corresponding web page is also deleted. I don't believe there are links from the folder to the page.

because they are linked via the hyperlinks in the webpage
