If you are 18, just go get one. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission...

So logic or reasoning will not prevail. Your parents are right.
You do not need a lip ring!
I got my nose pierced at your age and I looked like an idiot when I was looking for a real job after college.
Tattoos can be hidden.
I would "spin" this in another direction.... your parents love you so much and believe it or not..they have been there and know what is best. You love and respect your folks that's clear.
Peer pressure is harder in college than in high school... so use your parents as the excuse... for real...they want you too...
My folks would kill me and I love teaching Sunday school sometimes and I can't if I have a lip ring...or what ever. Got me?
Be strong- its really is a phase in your life and it will pass....trust me.... do you have Britney Spears posters on the wall anymore?
See what I mean. Aim for a great role model with classic beauty, and replicate her look. You know what I'm saying right?!

Even if you are 18 and legally allowed to get your lip pierced without your parents' consent, if you're financially dependent on them you're kind of stuck.
Either you can try to convince them by being mature, reasoning with them (ie: you have two permanent tattoos, but a lip ring can always be taken out) and demonstrating that you'll take proper care of the piercing (maybe discuss hygiene and care with them?)... or you can wait it out until you're financially independent.
You might also want to point out to them that you're not, as you said, willing to go behind their backs. I think that's a pretty mature attitude and I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

well if they start to threaten you to not send money then go and get a job! im working over 30 hours a week and i have 16 units in school and have a 3.7 GPA (im in my second year of college taken 3 semesters already) yeah it can be tough sometimes especially whent here are a few too many test coming up or reports to do.. work for starbucks or somewhere. thats where iw ork. you can set your availability to whenever you want. ect. so if you make your own money and they threaten you tell them to suck it cause you have job and your supporting yourself! lol. but then again most jobs dont allow facial piercings. so maybe you can get it doen without them knoing. then let it heal. then get a job so you can take the jewelry in and out and then tell your parents... .your in a tough situation. but you shoudl get a job just cause anyways to keep busy when your bored of studyign or dont have anything else to study....
your lucky your parents send u money! lol im 19 now and as soon i was 18 i had to pay for everything! i still live with my om and now i have to buy my own toothpaste for crying out loud! lol and shampoo, food, books for school, tuition, ect. the only things she helps me out with is paying for half of the cost of all my books and im on her health care plan. but other than that i have to pay foreverything! you shoudl start to do the same.
plus ur 18.... just do it! my mom didnt want me to get my navel or my ears pierced but i went and did it anyways. i had to convince my bf more than my mom! he still said no. and he was upset at both but he's over it .lol

Your reasoning is sound on all aspects except for the idea of actually getting the lip ring. I think that is disgusting, and would not have any interest in pursuing a girl who did so.

You're 18 and a big girl, do your own thing. By the way I find lip rings ugly and repulsive. Usually homely girls wear them, not pretty ones.

Dude, if you're 18 do what you want, legally you can do it. And if your parents really love you, they're not going to stop loving you and caring for you just because you have a lip ring.
