and the person (man or woman) in front of you had a ton of groceries being checked out. Finally you hear the cashier give a grand total. When this person try’s to pay they come up short $30 or $40 maybe $60 dollars. By this time you see the look of embarrassment on this person’s face and you realize the situation. So my question is what would you do if you were put in a situation like this??
A. Turn your head and act like you don’t see what’s happening
B. Quickly get in another line
C. Let this person put some of their items back, so they could pay
D. Instantly grab your purse or wallet and offer to help pay for the items

Honestly I would help this person out with out question and I'm farrrr from rich. But if we were both short that day, I would be nice and make small talk while helping them put some of their items back. This would keep us both from feeling embarrased.
Me!!

A - if I have plenty of time to waste
B - most likely in my case
C - is pretty much equal to A
no, not D. I don't have this type of extra money lying around for those who don't even keep track of how many items do they put in the shopping cart. Don't people pay any attention to how much do they expect to spend anymore?

C., sweetie, all day! I could see if they were maybe a dollar short. Then I would offer assistance. But come on, do we not guesstimate or be sure to bring more than enough when doing some real grocery shopping?

E. I probably would be too deep in my thoughts to notice what was going on: ) This isn't always the case, but a long grocery line is a good chance to think.
This question is in the wrong category, btw: )
