Abigail is actually not an English name, it is Hebrew. It is also King David's 3rd wife in the old testament of the Bible. It means "Fathers Joy" and sometimes "Giving Joy"

In Korean you name is Sheenyeo (시녀)
In Chinese your name is Wunu (侍女)

Hope that helps.

In Dutch it would be Abigaël, but the name is hardly used in the Netherlands. It was in fashion here in the 16th and 17th century, especially in the south of the country.

Abigail is a Hebrew name. It is the name of one of the wives of King David. I do not know how he pronounced her name.
Maybe he called her Abby?

names transfer into different languages the same way because it has to be a phonetic rather than definition based, you just do it in the accent of that language

"Abigail" means "father's joy." In French that would be 'joie du père.' I think the name would be spelled the same way but be pronounced 'ah-bee-gell.'

Abigai’l in Spanish; Avigayil in Hebrew.

Powerful name in the context of our heavenly Father, too. : )
