I am Catholic. I have always felt that UNTIL the church is willing to pay for the delivery and support of all the children that would be created sans birth control then they have no right to rule on it. Particularly since the decisions are being made by men who don't get pregnant, don't marry and don't have to support families.
The reality of it is that the pope does not sanction birth control and until they do, it's actually against their teachings to pay for birth control which would be considered condoning it.
Furthermore, it's up to each individual employer to decide the extent of insurance coverage they provide to their employees. No one is bound to offer more than a bare minimum of coverage.
Sorry, tho I agree with you completely I don't think you're going to change their minds very soon...

Birth control pills for females are used to treat a wide variety of things besides just being contraceptives. If they care about their employees, they'll cover them.
But keep in mind that some insurances do NOT cover birth control pills, period. I believe that what is covered is determined by the insurance company and the level of coverage the employee is willing to pay for. So that's another thing to consider. It may not be the employer, it may be the plan. So while they could pick a better plan, the employer may just be being cheap or maybe they simply can't afford to supply any of the better policies to their employees.
In the long run, if it's a matter of economics, no, they should not be required to provide it. That would be like telling Wal Mart they have to provide insurance for every single person they hire. Which they do not do, in my understanding, and which is why they are the 'low low price leader' or whatever. If an employer is intentionally endangering the health of women employees because of dogma by refusing to obtain coverage for certain treatments, then yes, they should be required to obtain the insurance that will cover birth control pills.
The employer's personal dogma should not be permitted to dictate the quality of healthcare for their employees.

Actually, Catholics are taught NOT to use birth control and that it is a sin.
As far as covering birth control to its employees, it depends what they are. If they're Catholic: NO. If they're not Catholic, then YES because they shouldn't force their beliefs on employees who are not Catholic.

Actually, Catholics do not believe in birth control. They are just now coming around to maybe accepting it so I don't think anyone would have a prayer to get them to cover it.

This is not about religion but about govt and immoral people using their power to institute morality!!!!!!!
Do you realize hypocritical your thinking is. You want it both ways. You want govt to sanction the removal of religious icons from society and for us to respect you because you do not believe but you are going to support the govt forcing their ideals on an institution that believes that contraception is wrong. Would accept forced abortion if you are not wed, or forcibly having to carry child after being raped. You obviously want to see eradication of all religion and to take the away rights of everyone that disagrees with you. Are you communist also? Govt should stay the **** out of peoples lives.

yup, very good. Next thing would be to force them to teach about birth control in their schools. I wonder what dead middle eastern emperor the pope would find to quote about that!
